3. REQUIREMENTS

1.1 Contractor/ Supplier shall be responsible for conducting the check items, inspect
items, testing requirements and functional test ofcheck items as covered herein
for the Fire Detection and Alarm System.

1.2 Prior to placing any equipment in operation, inspection and all initial testing are
required i.e. (continuity, ground fault) to establish and that all equipment, devices
and wiring are in satisfactory condition orhave been properly installed and will
operated as intended.

1.3 Contractor/ Supplier shall be responsible for arranging and/ or conducting the
testing in a timely manner during the construction process.

1.4 An ocular inspection and testing meeting is required prior to commissioning.

4. TESTING AND COMMISSIONING PROCEDURES

4.1 WALK-THROUGH TEST FOR FACP INSPECTION & FIELD DEVICES

INSPECTION

This procedures deal with visual inspection of the panel installed as well as the
modules, cable tagging and wiring termination complies with Field Layout and
AS-Built Drawing. This also covers visual inspection of installed devices
complies with the As-Built Drawings and Field Layout.

4.1.1 Perform Walk-Through Test for FACP Inspection.

a) Check FACP Panel installed complies with Field Layout andApproved

Drawing.

b) Check installed FACP panel modules complies with Field Layoutand

Approved Drawing.

c) Check for FACP Panel’s cleanliness.

d) Check for FACP Panel’s Battery type installed.

e) Check Cables are properly labeled.

f) Check Cables properly terminated.

g) Check wiring termination complies with Panel Layout ApprovedDrawing.

T&C Procedure – Fire Detection and Alarm System 3

h) Check Panel Ground Termination.

4.1.2 Perform Walk-Through Test for Field Devices Inspection.

a) Check Field Devices comply with As-Built Drawings andField Layout.

b) Check Field Devices properly installed and correctly labeled.

4.2. FUNCTIONAL TEST

4.2.1 Perform FACP Panel Test

a) AC Power:
To ensure there is an automatic transfer once there is an AC Power or
Battery Loss and vice-versa happened.

• Measure and record the AC Input Voltage.

• Record the location where the FACP is connected to theElectrical
Panel.

b) Ground Fault Test:

To simulate and determine if ground fault is being detected bythe panel.

• Simulate any wire except power line to ground.

• Check if there is a trouble fault appears on the panel.

c) Lamp Test / Tone Alert Test:

To check and ensure Panel LEDs are functional.

• Press the “LAMP TEST” push-button. All LEDs shouldilluminate.

d) Battery Test:
To ensure and test the battery is capable to operate under normal load for
24 hours. After the battery running for a day, an alarm test will be
performed with audible devicesfunctioning for 5 minutes.

4.2.2 Perform TROUBLE TEST

To determine all the initiating (smoke, heat, manual pull station, tamper
switch), indicating (horn, strobe) devices installed on the Fire Alarm System
are fully monitored and supervised once a trouble fault occurred.

T&C Procedure – Fire Detection and Alarm System 4

a) Initiating Devices
• Remove any initiating device (i.e. smoke, heat, manual station…) in a
loop circuit.
• Check and verify if the removed initiating device will respond a trouble
fault signal to the Fire Alarm Control Panel.

b) Indicating Devices
• Remove any indicating device (i.e. horn, strobe) in a circuit.
• Check and verify if the removed initiating device will respond a trouble
fault signal to the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
• Verify and Check if there is End-of-Line (EOL) deviceconnected in the
circuit.

4.2.4 Perform ALARM TEST

To determine all the initiating devices (smoke, heat, manual pull station,
flow switch) installed will initiate an alarm when activated on the Fire Alarm
Panel.

a) Initiating Devices
• Smoke Detector. Simulate smoke detector by usingsmoke gas
tester or test magnet.
• Heat Detector. Simulate heat detector by using heatblower.
• Manual Pull Station. Simulate manual pull station bypulling down
the lever of the manual pull station.
• Flow Switch. Activate Inspector’s Test Valve connection.

5. LIST OF TOOLS

a.) Analog Multi-Tester

b.) Two-way Radio
c.) Detector (Smoke/Heat) Tester
d.) Set of Screw Drivers
