EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

E-learning is becoming increasingly prominent in tertiary education. All available

evidence point to growing enrolments and provision, although from a low starting
point. However, after the hype of the new economy, growing disenchantment with
eLearning has replaced over-enthusiasm. Failures of e-learning operations have, at
least temporarily, overshadowed the prospects of widened and flexible access to
tertiary education, pedagogic innovation, decreased cost, etc., that e-learning once
embodied. So where do we stand after the end of the hype of the new economy?

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

9
INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNSHIP

An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organization for a limited

period of time. Internship is used practice for a wide range of placements in
businesses, non-profit organization and government agencies. They are typically
undertaken by students and graduates looking to gain relevant skills and experience in
a particular field. Employers benefit from these placements because they often recruit
employees from their best interns, who have known capabilities, thus saving time and
money in the long run. Internships are usually arranged by third-party organizations
that recruit interns on behalf of industry groups. Typically, an internship consists of an
exchange of services for experience between the intern and the organization.
Internships are used to determine whether the intern still has an interest in that field
after the real-life experience.

In some definitions e-Learning encompasses more than just the offering of wholly
online courses. For instance Oblinger and Hawkins (2005) noted that e-Learning has
transformed from a fully-online course to using technology to deliver part or all of a
course independent of permanent time and place. Also the European Commission
(2001) describes, e-Learning as the use of new multimedia technologies and the
Internet to increase learning quality by easing access to facilities and services as well
as distant exchanges and collaboration. The following are also different definitions of
e-learning.

10
Compared to traditional initial training, i.e. training followed in person, distance
learning has certain advantages which we have already begun to mention. First of all,
e-learning offers incomparable flexibility in the management of training time by the
learners themselves, who can acquire new skills where they want, when they want and
at the pace that suits them, i.e. from an ATAWAD ("Any Time, Any Where, Any
Device") perspective. Also, there are many more learning opportunities (virtual
classes, gamification, mooc, social, mobile learning...) and more diverse teaching
resources (videos, articles, podcasts, and quizzes.).

INDUSTRY PROFILE

E-LEARNING INDUSTRY

E-learning refers to a learning system that relies on electronic devices and information
and communication technology to deliver information. It provides information in the
form of text, image, animation, video and audio via the internet, intranet, satellite
broadcast, interactive TV or CD-ROM. It saves time, offers personalization and
reaches a wider audience. Moreover, it is cost-effective and finds application in the
agriculture, healthcare, and education and training industries. It is also utilized in the
corporate sector for conducting training programs and collaborative activities, such as
project work and assignments, using chats, discussion forums and blogs etc.

It is a pattern of learning in which the internet and other learning techniques are used
for the delivery of the teaching process, and for managing the interaction between
instructor and student, among students themselves, and between students and sources
of learning. E-learning is nothing but the use of technology to connect teachers and
students who are physically miles apart.

THE RISE OF e- LEARNING PLATFORM.

Online learning has shown significant growth over the last decade, as the internet and
education combine to provide people with the opportunity to gain new skills. Since the
COVID-19 outbreak, online learning has become more centric in people's lives. The

11
pandemic has forced schools, universities, and companies to remote working and this
booms the usage of online learning.

Even before the pandemic, Research and Markets forecasts the online education market
as $350 Billion by 2025, so the numbers might be updated after analysing the growth
impacts of COVID-19 on the online learning market. The past year has been intense,
with heightened emotions, economic uncertainty and the whole world paused to stem the
spread of this awful virus. Everyone has been affected but many SME and
entrepreneurs have been hit hard with traditional business models having to be re
thought.

MARKET SIZE (INDIAN)

The India e-learning market size reached US$ 5.6 Billion in 2021. Looking forward,
IMARC Group expects the market to reach US$ 12.5 Billion by 2027, exhibiting a
growth rate (CAGR) of 13.9% during 2022-2027. Keeping in mind the uncertainties of
COVID-19, we are continuously tracking and evaluating the direct as well as the
indirect influence of the pandemic on different end use sectors. These insights are
included in the report as a major market contributor.

The India service providers sector is set to register around 30% gains during 2022 to
2028 driven by growing focus of companies on increasing their portfolios. The sudden
outbreak of coronavirus, which resulted in the closure of schools & colleges, has
accelerated the requirement for alternative online solutions to continue classroom
sessions. This factor has encouraged companies to increase their R&D investments for
launching innovative solutions to cater to the rising demand.

MARKET SIZE (GLOBAL)

The India e-learning market size reached US$ 5.6 Billion in 2021. Looking forward,
IMARC Group expects the market to reach US$ 12.5 Billion by 2027, exhibiting a
growth rate (CAGR) of 13.9% during 2022-2027. Keeping in mind the uncertainties of
COVID-19, we are continuously tracking and evaluating the direct as well as the
indirect influence of the pandemic on different end use sectors. These insights are
included in the report as a major market contributor.

12
CLASSIFICATION OF e-LEARNING PLATFORM

Moving from the implementation of “face-to-face” training to the development of

elearning requires cultural, organizational, and educational changes. The relationships
between trainees, content, and trainers are disrupted, making this development
delicate. In fact, according to the needs of each learning situation (target audience,
type of training, area of training, etc.), we should end up with multiple systems
articulating in varying proportions remote working time, time of self-study work, and
face-to-face working times to adapt to the educational process and approach. The most
general classification offers two categories.

 Synchronous systems define a "virtual classroom" where communication between

distance learning players is in real-time using sound, video, or chat

Asynchronous systems where the student is not necessarily online with the
teacher, he can work in offline mode and communicate at scheduled times or on
demand. The necessary and most used mode of communication in this kind of
system is electronic mail.

Training with tutored and synchronized self-learning: This type of training
combines remote work at a given time and face-to-face work. The device
combines self-learning at a distance (a tool and its concepts for example) with a
common "reformulation" and an appropriation in the classroom. Self-learning is
based on different activities based on documents of different natures (reading,
guided handling, exercises) described in a standardized guide sheet for the whole
training, all available for download from the training site.

This self-learning takes place over a day identified in the timetable of the trainees
containing compulsory contacts with the trainers by sending documents, replies to
questionnaires or productions.

13

Trainers and tutors, present remotely, can be reached during this period at any
time by various means (telephone, messaging, etc.) to resolve any difficulties.

Training with tutored and desynchronized self-learning: In this type of training is

 found all the principles of the previous type. The difference lies in the DE
synchronization of the distance. In this case, the work to be done remotely takes
place within a given period with a deadline. Contact with trainers and tutors still
exists, but the answers to the questions are not immediate.

 The use of e-Learning allows self-pacing. For instance the asynchronous way
Permits each student to study at his or her own pace and speed whether slow or quick. It
therefore increases satisfaction and decreases stress.

E-LEARNING IS THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION

 The future of online education is strong indeed and there are many changes you
are likely to see Improved Consistency As more and more individuals seek online
education, there is a growing need to follow a universal standard of quality.

Presently, online programs do follow some standards, but the level of academic
quality and strictness differ from instructor to instructor or school to school. But,
consistency is what every student seeks, and this is what the future of online
education will allow them to enjoy.

As per new researches, online education can prove to be as effective if not more as
the brick-and-mortar schools. In fact, a certain study showed that students
studying in online institutions performed better than those who were a part of the
traditional schools. So, to help improve things further, online schools are trying to
employ tools that will bring in more consistency.

14

Quality of Content or Course the next thing that will get attention in the future is
the content and course quality, which of course is of utmost importance. Scopes
for improvement are there, but what kind of improvement can be expected? The
system will be such that will create content for each student keeping in mind their
abilities, and techniques will then be used to drive.

Students will be evaluated in a number of areas like answer confidence, grades,
task, time, satisfaction, and information retention, and then a plan will be
formulated for them. The old style wherein one course would fit all will no longer
be followed.

 The new method will allow the instructors to evaluate the progress of each
Student and then optimize their course in a way that would prove more beneficial
for them. This will always help improve the quality of the program and course
content.

THE MOST IMPORTANT BENEFIT OF e-LEARNING FOR STUDENTS.

Today's learners want relevant, mobile, self-paced, and personalized content. This need
is fulfilled with the online mode of learning; here, students can learn at their own
comfort and requirement. Let's have an analytical look at the advantages of online
learning.

• ONLINE LEARNING ACCOMMODATES EVERYONE’S NEEDS

The online method of learning is best suited for everyone. This digital revolution has
led to remarkable changes in how the content is accessed, consumed, discussed, and
shared. Online educational courses can be taken up by office goers and housewives
too, at the time that suits them. Depending on their availability and comfort, many
people choose to learn at weekends or evenings.

15
• LECTURES CAN BE TAKEN ANY NUMBER OF TIMES

Unlike classroom teaching, with online learning you can access the content an
unlimited number of times. This is especially required at the time of revision when
preparing for an exam. In traditional form of learning, if you cannot attend the lecture,
then you have to prepare for that topic on your own; in eLearning, you can attend the
lectures whenever you want with ease.

• OFFERS ACCESS TO UPDATED CONTENT

A prime benefit of learning online is that it makes sure that you are in synchronization
with modern learners. This enables the learner to access updated content whenever
they want it.

 QUICK DELIVERY OF LESSONS

ELearning is a way to provide quick delivery of lessons. As compared to traditional classroom

teaching method, this mode has relatively quick delivery cycles.
This indicates that the time required to learn is reduced to 25%-60% of what is
required in traditional learning. There are some of the reasons why the learning time is
reduced by eLearning: Lessons starts quickly and also wrapped up in a single learning
session. This enables training programs to easily roll out within a few weeks, or
sometime even days.

Learners can define their own speed of learning instead of following the speed of the
whole group. Saves time as a student does not need to travel to the training venue. You
can learn at the comfort of your own place. Students can choose to study specific and
relevant areas of the learning material without focusing on each and every area.

For example, they can skip certain areas they do not want to learn.

16
• SCALABILITY

ELearning helps in creating and communicating new training, policies, concepts, and
ideas. Whether it is for formal education or entertainment, eLearning is very quick way
of learning!

• CONSISTENCY

ELearning enables educators to get a higher degree of coverage to communicate the

message in a consistent way for their target audience. This ensures that all learners
receive the same type of training with this learning mode.

• REDUCED COSTS

ELearning is cost effective as compared to traditional forms of learning. The reason

for this price reduction is because learning through this mode happens quickly and
easily. A lot of training time is reduced with respect to trainers, travel, course
materials, and accommodation.

This cost effectiveness also helps in enhancing the profitability of an organization.

Also, when you are studying at your own place, you are relieved from paying for travel
expenses (e.g. accommodation) when training happens in another city/state and/or
external learning materials.

• EFFECTIVENESS

ELearning has a positive influence on an organization’s profitability. It makes it easy

to grasp the content and digest it: It results in improved scores on certifications, tests,
or other types of evaluation. Higher number of students who achieve „pass‟ or
mastery‟ level. Enhanced ability to learn and implement the new processes or
knowledge at the workplace. Help in retaining information for a longer time.

• LESS IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENT

17
As eLearning is a paperless way of learning, it protects the environment to a lot of
extent. As per a study done on eLearning courses, it has been found that distance based
learning programs consumed around 90% less power and generated 85% less amount
of CO2 emissions as compared to traditional campus-based educational courses. With
eLearning, there is no need to cut trees for obtaining paper. Thus, eLearning is a highly
eco-friendly way of learning.

• ACCESSIBILITY AND FLEXIBILITY

Students also have the advantage of balancing other activities with their study time.
This is possible primarily because of the accessibility and flexibility of online learning.
This balance allows the learner to fulfill various other commitments outside of their
academic pursuits.

CONCLUSION

Due to the wide set of benefits it gives to students, eLearning has become quite popular and
appreciated among students all over the world.

McKENSY’S 7S FRAME WORK

AND
PORTERS FIVE FORCE MODEL

McKENSY’S 7S FRAME WORK

In the 1980s, three McKinsey consultants, Tom Peters, Robert Waterman, and Julien
Philips created a tool that would prove to be one of the best tools to examine

30
organizational design the McKinsey 7S Model. The McKinsey 7s model is a strategic
tool and framework that helps managers and businesses assess their performance. They
created a list of seven internal factors that determine an organization's efficiency,
which is as follows:

Now that we know all the factors of this model, it’s time to apply it to a practical
situation. Today, we will see RINEX as an example and understand how the
manufacturing industry uses this consulting framework.

STRATEGY
The strategy are developed analysing the internal and external environment. Rinex
Company strives to offer a wide range of product or module to its customers at the
lowest possible price. Apart from this, company has sets smart goals to achieve its
short-term and long-term vision, and these goals are clearly communicated to all
employees.
STRUCTURE

Organization structure is a system of relationship that governs the activities of the

people who are dependent upon each other for achieving the common objectives. For
the purpose of easy and effective administration all the activities of Rinex team have
been broadly assigned to the board members and senior executives set strategic

31
direction, middle managers plan and control production, and supervisors manage day
by day operations Rinex is present in Mangalore and Bangalore and has been scaled its
business, organisation focuses on diversifying suppliers and all employees work as a
team.

SYSTEM
An organization has an integrated group of functions that is sales, design, production,
and recruiting functions. Basically it’s the procedure of every day activity, covering
everything from management information system to the system at the point of contract
with the customer. It’s the process of searching for applicants and simulating them to
apply for job in an organisation. The recruitment system flows as bellow

• Review of recruitment
• Preparation of the position profile
• Sourcing (advertising, referrals, web positioning, recruitment)
• Screening
• Financial assessment
• HR assessment
• Appointment register
• Training and development
• Reference check
• Offer confirmation
• conclusion

SHARED VALUES
It refers to the fundamental values that are widely shared in the organization and serve as
guiding principle that are important. These values have great meaning because they focus

SKILLS

Skills is the capabilities and competencies that exist within the company. A skill
captures a company’s crucial attributes or capabilities. RINEX team has good skilled
labor force and well equipped latest facilities and technologies. Some of the skills that
the employees should restrain are critical thinking, communication, project
management, leadership, efficient, problem solving.

STYLE

Style refers to the employees shared and common way of thinking and behaving.
Rinex team have a paternalistic form of management style. The leader explains most
decisions to the employees. This can help balance out the lack of worker motivation
and also feedback to the management is encouraged to maintain morale.

STAFF

The organization has developed and always looked into its people, their background
and competencies. Manufacturing jobs can involve the mechanical, physical, or
chemical transformation of materials to create these new products. They need who
work on product line. An efficient operation requires employees in numerous roles,
including management and equity assurance.

PORTERS FIVE FORCE MODEL ANALYSIS

Porter’s 5 Forces, was introduced by Michael Porter in his 1980 book “Competitive Strategy”
Generally techniques used for Analysing Industries and Competitors. It helps to analysing the
level of competition within in a certain industry. Its especial useful when starting a new business

33
or when entering A new industry. Analysis of the five forces gives an accurate impression of the
industry and makes analysis easier.

THREAT OF NEW ENTRANTS

There is a high cost of entrance in the media and entrainment industry. The
entertainment industry needs a large capital amount as the business which are engaged
in supplying home entertainment service have larger start-up expense, which includes:

• Legal cost.
• Marketing expense.
• Distribution cost.
• Licensing cost.
In contrast, the existing home entertainment provider has actually been thoroughly
working on their targeted segments with the specific expertise, which is why the threat
of new entrants is low.

34
THREAT OF SUBSTITUTES

The threat of substitutes in the market position moderate threat level in media and the
entertainment industry. The client may likewise engage in other leisure activities and
source of details as compared to enjoying media material and online streaming.

BARGAINING POWER OF BUYER

The dynamics of media and home entertainment market permits the consumers to have
high bargaining power. The low expense of changing allows the clients to look for
other media service providers and cancel their Porter's Five Forces of E-Learning
Initiatives at Rinex technology, hence increasing the organisation hazard.

BARGAINING POWER OF SUPPLIERS

The bargaining power of provider is high force in the marketplace. This is since there
are couple of variety of providers who produce entertainment and media based
material. Given that Porter's Five Forces of E-Learning Initiatives has actually been
contending versus the traditional distributor of home entertainment and media, it needs
to show higher versatility in contract as compared to the traditional services. The items
is technology based, the dependency of the companies are increasing on continuous
basis.

RIVALRY AMONG EXITING FIRMS

Several large, established companies already occupy the manufacturing industry. They
have big budgets and lots of resources to maintain their share of the market. Rinex
technology can face strong pressure from the rival firms, so these companies or others
could potentially affect others growth. So the competitive rivalry for Rinex
Technology Company is high.

35
CHAPTER 4

SWOT ANALYSIS

SWOT ANALYSIS

36
SWOT analysis is a technique for assessing the performance, competition, risk, and potential of a
business, as well as part of a business such as a product line or division, an industry, or other
entity. Using internal and external data the technique can guide businesses toward strategies more
likely to be successful, and away from those in which they have been, or are likely to be, less
successful. It is a strategic planning technique that provides assessment tools. Identifying core
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats leads to fact-based analysis, fresh perspectives,
and new ideas.

STRENGTHS

37
• Program's flexibility The main advantage of asynchronous online learning is that it allows
students to participate in high quality learning situations when distance and schedule
make on-ground learning difficult-to-impossible

• Quick access to information

• Quick validation of information

• Quick access to adjacent means necessary for a good conduct of teaching activities
(images, videos, etc.,)

• Openness to a variety of online teaching/ assessment means

• Financial savings

• Access to resources It is easy to include distinguished guest experts or students from other
institutions in an online class. Furthermore, today’s students have access to resources and
materials that may be physically located anywhere in the world

• The literature of adult education supports the use of interactive learning environments as
contributing to self-direction and critical thinking.

WEAKNESS

• Increased amount of time spent in front of electronic equipment’s

• Preparation of teaching activities is much more time-consuming than face-to face

education

• Communication between teachers and students may be only apparent (e.g. cameras
do not open/ work)

• Dependence on the Internet signal (increasingly required), electricity (can be turned

off), the quality of the equipment used for connection to the Internet

38
• Limitations of technology

• An online instructor must be able to compensate for lack of physical presence by

creating a supportive environment in the Virtual Classroom where all students feel
comfortable participating and especially where students know that their instructor is
accessible.

• Sometimes administration cannot see beyond the bottom line and look at online
programs only as ways to increase revenues and are thus not committed to seeing
online programs as a means of providing quality education to people who would
otherwise not be able to access it

OPPORTUNITIES

• Permanent adaptation to the new realities determined by online education (e.g. accessing
different computer platforms)

• Reassessment of specific competencies

• Emphasizing pedagogical skills

• The possibility to undergo seminar teaching activities with several groups of students

• Faculty trained in online teaching gain a competitive edge.

• More fully-rounded, modern-day, creative teaching skills.

• Technology-trained faculty Offer University scheduling flexibility.

• Opportunity to stay academically engaged for retired faculty.

• The new electronic technology has great theoretical appeal for addressing educational
issues, such as how to teach more students at lower cost

39
THREATS

• Many students do not have the money for new computers and software. Students who
can't afford a computer are at a real disadvantage and are forced to fight with crowds in a
noisy computer lab

• Most faculty have not responded quickly or enthusiastically to distance education. Many
faculty are worried about being replaced by their own creations.

• Faculty is no longer the key source of information.

• A cultural challenge for teachers steeped in F2F (face to face) teaching.

• Doubts on the integrity of online programs and accreditation.

CONCLUSION

50
Every student when doing a professional course needs to undertake an internship program,
which helps him/her to explore their skills and gain in depth knowledge about the
operations of the organization.

The organization study on Rinex Technology Private Limited has given me an opportunity
to learn many things that would allow me to expand my skills and career options. It has
helped me to gain valuable knowledge about the organization in depth.

The organizational study has not only helped me to gain knowledge about the company but
also about the manufacturing industry. The study on Rinex Technology Private Limited was
successful in achieving specific objectives. It has helped me to understand the key business
processes that are carried out in the organization, the policies, procedures and structure of
the organization, the ability to use technology in a workplace environment, to get clear idea
about the products/services provided. It has helped me to familiarize about the vision
statement, mission statement, core values, future growth and prospects of the organisation.

The most important thing I understood is that the company culture strictly upholds and
fulfils the employee’s needs, this makes the employees dedicated to the company. Rinex
Technology Private Limited is successful because their organizational culture is not totally
focused on creation of wealth but is focused more in building a sound organisation. This
study has helped me to get overall exposure to the working of an organisation.
