Math 212-1 - Exam 2

This document is an examination booklet for a Differential Equations course. It provides instructions for students taking the exam, including not allowing electronics, keeping their eyes on their own paper, and remaining quiet. The exam then contains 5 questions assessing students' knowledge of differential equations, including finding general solutions to initial value problems, homogeneous equations, and equations using methods like reduction of order, undetermined coefficients, variation of parameters, and transforming Cauchy-Euler equations. Students are asked to show work and steps in solving the problems over the 70 minute exam.

1. (a) State the existence and uniqueness theorem for the initial-value problem

dn y dn−1 y dy
an (x) n
+ an−1 (x) n−1 + + . . . a1 (x) + a0 (x)y = g(x)
dx dx dx
