Stoffs Lesson Plans Week 1: Thursday August 18th


8:05-8:10 Welcome students to the classroom. Have power point ready with directions Dear 3rd graders, Welcome! Please find your seat. On your desk you will find a letter that tells you everything you need to know! I am so glad to see you! Your Teacher, Miss. Stoff Students work on personal interview about themselves until the bell rings. 8:10-8:45 Take attendance and lunch count. Invite them to the carpet. Show students how to walk to the carpet and how to sit on the carpet properly. Welcome them to the meeting area where a lot of discussions and conversations will take place. Read First Day Jitters. Discuss how we feel on the first day of school. Introduce the quiet signal and what they need to do if they want to get my attention. Two Truths and a Lie.New groups ( Line up in Birthday order with out talking to each other) Move desks into new teams. 8:45-9:05Allow students to go back to their seats. Model the proper way to do this. Discuss and Model the morning routine. 1. Shake Miss Stoffs Hand (talk about shaking hands why and how) 2. Hang up back pack 3. Put BEE Books in BEE Book Bin (Discuss the contents later in the day) 4. Choose lunch (Graph) 5. Do Wake up Work 6. Read Silently 9:05-10:10 Invite students to math meeting area. Model proper way to do this. Go over carpet procedures for Might Math time. Start MATH Lesson 1 10:10-10:05 Brain Gym 10:10-10:25 go over hallway procedures, bathroom procedures and how we line up. Practice getting in number order. Time and see how quick and quiet we can do it. Introduce hall way song. My hands are hanging by my sides, I'm standing very tall, My eyes are looking straight ahead, I'm ready for the hall.

10:30-11:05 Ask students to join you on the carpet. Read aloud It Looks Like Spilt Milk . Talk about how our experiences shape us and help mold us into who we are. We all have different Schema. Read aloud and ask if anyone has ever seen a picture in the clouds and tried to show someone else and the other person couldnt see it. This is because we our individuals with different schema. Since we are a school family, it is ok to be different and to see things differently. Then share a piece of paper with one squiggle line. Tell them if I could add more to the picture I would see a roller coaster ride with flags all around it and people screaming. Then I ask others to share what they see. Model how to use crayons/color pencils/markers properly then how to put them away. Finally students are each given a page and asked to draw and write what they see. Encourage using LOTS of color and taking their time. These will be immediately glued on to construction paper and hung up in the hall. 11:05-11:20 Go over hallway and lunch room procedures before lunch. Hand out cards to students for different teachers during specials. They will line up with these teachers everyday after recess for specials. 11:25-11:45 Lunch 11:45-12:05 Recess 12:05-12:10 Bathroom Break 12:10-1:00 Specials 1:05- 1:15 Go to the carpet and read aloud the book Have you filled a Bucket Today. Explain to students that we all carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when they are empty, we are sad. It is important in our classroom that we learn that when we fill a friends bucket, they also fill their own bucket because it feels good to make others happy. 1:15-1:30 Introduce Bee Books 1:30-1:50 - Go over dismissal procedures. Pack up and Stack up Bee Books need to go home and brought back tomorrow. Any trash needs to be picked up. Back packs need to be at their desks. Review recess procedures. Read aloud if time. 2:00 Line up for dismissal: Car Riders up front, bus Riders in the middle and Walkers in the back

I am so glad to see you! Your Teacher, Ms. Stoff 8:05-8:10 Morning Announcements 8:10-8:45 Talk about morning routine. Tell students that it would be a good idea if we made a chart of our morning routine so we always have a reminder. Take pictures of each step as students model it. 8:45-10:10 Review Might math Procedures. Math Lesson 2 10-10-10:25 Review hallway procedures. Have students model each step. Take picture of each step. Make anchor chart. Introduce lining up chant. 1:05- 1:35 Spelling inventory part 2 High Frequency Words 1:35-2:05 Review bucket filling. Ask students ways we can fill each others buckets in our classroom. Make Anchor chart on long construction paper. Post on wardrobe. Make list of times its appropriate to fill a persons bucket in class. 2:05-2:35 Go over dismissal procedures. Make anchor chart. Take picture of each step. Pack up and Stack up Bee Books need to go home and brought back tomorrow. Any trash needs to be picked up.
