Quick Reference
1
1 Unpack and inspect parts (Sec 2.1, 2.2 pg. 17)
Open carton - Remove and unwrap all components. Inventory all
components using packing list. Check condition.
Note – If carton shows signs of damage file claim with shipper at
time of delivery.
2
2 Record Serial Numbers (Sec 2.3)
Serial numbers of the C-Nav Receiver and CnC Display Unit will be
needed for signal activation and warranty service. The serial
numbers can be found on the nomenclature plates on each unit.
Tip - Keep serial numbers available and contact C&C
Technologies, Inc. for Starfire Subscription Service activation code
(see Code Activation form).
3
3 Plan Installation (Sec 2.6 pg. 19, 7.4 pg. 110)
Location for antenna/receiver must be on a high position – near the
vessel centerline and not 'in-line' or near any RF radiation devices.
Warning - Keep away from all Inmarsat or Radar antennas.
Select a location for the CnC Display Unit – position power supply
for use with the CnC Display unit. Select and measure a cable
route (Ensure path is safe and cable length is correct).
4
4 Install Antenna (Sec 2.5 pg. 18)
Install the aluminium mounting pole with the 3/4inch BSP thread
as close to the centerline of the vessel and as high as possible to
ensure clear obstructructive view of the sky. Mount the C-Nav unit
and connect the Interconnect Cable and secure.
Caution – use care to prevent falls and avoid power lines while
working aloft.
Note – A pin or bolt may be used if desired.
6
6 Connect interconnecting cables. (sec 2.6 pg. 19)
Connect power cable between the CnC Display Unit and the power
supply or Connect Data/Power 'Bypass' Y-Cable cable to the C-Nav
GPS receiver and the 20ft Power cable from power supply as
required.
Note – See Users manual Appendix D for cable descriptions.
7
7 Connect power supply to wall outlet. (Sec 2.8 pg. 21)
Connect one end of the cord into the power supply and the other
end to a wall outlet or power strip. Note – You may have a different
power plug in your country. An adaptor may be needed.
Caution – Electrocution may occur from the use of electrical
devices.
8
8 Connect CnC display unit to external equipment.
(Sec 2.7 pg. 20)
Connect cable from CnC Display Unit to the computer/work station
you have provided. Determine the settings needed for the device
connected.
9
9 Turn on Power Supply and Power Switch on CnC
Display Unit.
All information will be on the CnC Display/ Control Unit.

10.Check for Errors.
When first energized the display back-light will blink, on and off, if no
authorization code is loaded (Sec. 4.4.2.9 pg. 47), while ephemeris
and almanac data are collected, and if an error or alarm is indicated
(Sec 4.3 pg. 37). Press HOME key and check for Serial Number. If
number is present the units are connected correctly and are
operating.
Note – see Section 7 of manual for troubleshooting information.
11
11 Check for signal Acquisition
A delay of up to 15 minutes will occur during a cold start up as
GPS ephemeris and almanac data is collected.
Tip – see appendix A. for technical specifications.
12
12 Change COM settings (If needed). (Sec 4.5.3)
Configure the CnC D.U. data ports as required for your RS-232 I/F
