What is It
Many of our ancestors coming from the different regions here in the Philippines
have given a big contribution in our musical history and this music became a big help
not only in entertainment but also in some religious ceremonies as well as, easing the
stressful day of work. It maybe of different languages, instruments used and of
different performance but still Philippine music is noticeable to us.
Here are some Traditional Philippine Folk Song from Lowlands of Luzon:

man as a secondary character. The woman in the song was looking for a missing ring
given by her mother and offers her love as a prize for the man who could find it.

A song that talks about the difficulties of the life of a farmer, how one has to
bend over the entire day, with no time to sit and no time to stand. And then it goes on
to summon the listener to join in, to keep the industrious spirit alive, and to continue
the hard work in the hopes of securing a brighter future. The song wonderfully reflects
the positive, hopeful mentality of the Filipino.

Bicolanos, this is not only a song but also a festival that showcases a variety of cultural

night. This festival is a tribute to its composer, Potenciano V. Gregorio, Sr.

The song is a popular old Ilocano folk song, possibly pre-Spanish era and is
about a girl with a hardened heart who does not need her lover's pleading. It is about
courtship and love.

during the country's Spanish colonization, as its lyrics suggest the ordinary life during
