DONE LESSON PLAN - Weather and Climate

This document contains a detailed lesson plan about weather and climate for a 7th grade science class. The objectives are for students to discuss weather and climate, differentiate weather patterns in the Philippines, and appreciate how weather and climate affect daily life. The lesson discusses the difference between weather and climate, examples of each, and measuring devices. It also covers the two seasons in the Philippines - El Niño and La Niña. Students do an activity to enact weather situations and are assigned to write about the importance of understanding a country's weather and climate.

A. Introduction

Do you still remember your last lesson last time? Sir, last meeting we have discussed about the
atmosphere.
Good. Now we will have another topic for today
CHRIST- CENTEREDNESS EXCELLENCE MISSIONARY

but before that. Class, how are you feeling today? Sir, feeling hot.
Are you feeling cold or feeling hot?

All right. Currently we are experiencing mostly

hotness but sometimes coldness in our
environment because of the weather we are
experiencing today. The weather is hot in the
morning while it will be rainy and cloudy at the
afternoon.

MOTIVATION
CHRIST- CENTEREDNESS EXCELLENCE MISSIONARY

Can you tell me what you see on the image? Sir, first image is sunny while the second
image is rainy.
Very good! The picture I have showed you depict
the seasons in the Phillipines. We are in a tropical
country because we have hight temperature, high
humidity, and lots of rainfall.

Presentation of Objectives:
To give us a clear guide of our lesson for today, a. discuss weather and climate;
here are the lesson objectives. Everyone, kindly b. differentitate the types of weather patterns in
read: the Philippines; and
c. appreciate the imporatance of learning the
weather and climate of the Philippines in our
daily lives.

B. Interaction:

Our discussion is all about the weather and

climate of the Philippines. Again what is the Sir, we have a hot and wet weather.
weather that we have?

Good. And what is the defenition of weather? Sir, weather changes everyday.

Correct. Weather refers to the day-to-day

atmospheric conditions. The weather is always
changing. In order to predict it, scientists take
measurements at weather stations all over the
world. These weather stations have instruments
that take measurements of atmospheric
conditions, like temperature, pressure, and
humidity. Now, class since weather is changing, Sir, warm, cold, windy, sunny, rainy,
can you give me an example of a weather? thunderstorm, sunshine, hail.

All right very good. Take note class that a

weather is a short-term atmospheric condition.

Let us proceed to devices that measures a

weather. Do you know any devices? Sir, thermometer.

Okay but thermomemter is used for different

purposes. What we have are hygrometer,
anemometer, and barometer. Hygrometer
measures humidity, anemometer measures the
air, and barometer measures the air preassure. Sir, hygrometer, anemometer, and barometer.

Again class what are the three devices to use in

measuring a weather?
Very good. Now let us proceed to climate. When
we say climate this is a long-term patter of
weather in a particular area. What do we mean by Sir, different places have different climate.
that?

Correct. Different places have different climate

depending on the region of where you are. To Sir, cold.
give an example, what is the climate og Baguio
city?
Sir, tropical, dry, polar.
Very good. It is cold because it is located on top
of a mountain. Can you give me more example of
a climate?
Sir, weather is a day-to-day occurrence while
Good. Now class, can you differentiate weather climate is a long term form of weather.
and climate?
Yes, sir.
Good. Imagine it like this. Think of weather as
the clothes you wear everyday. Is it not different
day by day?

Now think of the closet as the climate because

everything you have to wear to be comfortable
are placed in hear.
Sir, we have el nino and el nina
Class do you know the two seasons of the
Philippines?

Correct we have the el nino and el nina. Unlike

other countries in which they have four seasons.
We only have two namely the dry and wet Sir, umbrella, boots, suns screen, shades,
season. shorts, jacket.

Class what do you usually wear to protect or be

comfortable during dry and wet season?

All right very good.

Let us have an activity. I will group you in to

two. Group will enact activities during a rainy
day and group 2 will enact activities sunny day.
You are given 5 minutes to prepare.

Valuing:
How can you spread awareness to everyone that
advance preperations is necessary before a
calamity hits?

climate of our planet is important for the survival of our country?
