AN0037 Replacing An SM Ethernet Module Rev 04

This document provides instructions for replacing an SM-Ethernet module in a Unidrive SP or Digitax ST drive. The key steps are: 1. Log into the new module using the default username and password. 2. Upload any saved Ethernet configuration files from the original module to the replacement module. 3. Reset the module for the new configuration to take effect. The Ethernet configuration is stored in the module, not the drive, so it must be reloaded when replacing the module. Following these steps will restore the system to its pre-failure state.

This Application Note applies to UnidriveSP and DigitaxST series drives

Reprogramming a replaced SM-Ethernet module

This application note will describe the procedure needed to replace an SM-Ethernet module in a
Unidrive SP or a Digitax ST with or without SM- EZMotion.

The most important thing to note is that the webpage Produced/Consumed setup details are saved in
the Ethernet module, not the drive. So if the Ethernet module is replaced, the user will need to reload
the Ethernet configuration by performing a few steps to in order to bring the system back to its
pre-failure state. This is also the case when there is a SM-EZMotion involved. The Ethernet
configuration is not saved in the PowerToolsPro program.

1. Log into the Module by typing the Ethernet Address on the browser’s address bar and entering
the default Username “root” and Password of “ut72”. The user will be prompted to change the

password; however you are never required to change it.

2. If there is a saved .pkg file Ethernet configuration, it was done by accessing the
Configuration/Backup options on the toolbar. There are 4 potential boxes to choose.
