IMPERATIVES

We often need to use the command mode when we want to quickly warm someone in everyday life, to give orders
or to communicate in informal languages.
 The imperatives mode is much easier than the other modes in english. Because when you need to use
imperatives mode has a very simple structure.
 In the sentences that are shot according to different people, the imperative mode may be different. Orders
are usually just set up with the simple present tense. Because we only need to give orders in the simple
present tense
 The imperative is formed with a verb without a subject
 Open the door.
 Take an aspirin
 Pay attention.
 Stop it
 Please tie my shoes
 The negative imperative is formed with do not – don’t and the verb.
 Don’t play with your brother
 Don’t talk to me that
 Don’t make that sound
 Don’t walk fastly

USES OF IMPERATIVES

We can use imperatives to:


 Gives orders
 Come here at once
 Take that gum out of your mouth!
 Please bring me the pizza to the table
 Give instructions
 Take one pill every 12 hours.
 Open your books on page 33
 Press the green bottom
 On signs
 Push
 Pull
 Stay on your right
 Make an invitation
 Have some tea. It´s still hot.
 Come in and sit down we are having tea.
 Have some cookies
 Give warmings
 Stop the car
 Don’t sit on the bench! It´s wet paint.
 Don’t smoke! It’s bad for your health.
 Give advices
 Get some sleep
 Tell er how you feel
