Is Talking Communicating?
The most popular false belief is that talking is communicating. In fact, talking does
not really link to communicating. Communicating is a skill that has to be learnt and perfected.
To communicate better, one needs to listen. This means that you have to put aside your own
ideas and seriously listen to what others have to say. Do not rush to be heard. Instead, make a
conscious effort to listen to what others say. Do not think of what you want to say while the
other person is talking.
One should also be open and honest to others. It is when you are honest to one another
that you can take a relationship to the next level. Never resort to lies and one lie may lead to
another. You will then always be hiding behind lies. This kind of relationship is unlikely to
progress to a deeper level.
Having a good understanding of body language helps you to understand a person
better. Be aware of non-verbal signs such as the way one folds his or her arms when talking.
Looking at a person in the eye while talking can tell us about the person we are talking to.
Thus, pay attention to your own non-verbal signs as well as the non-verbal signs of the person
you are communicating with.

Holiday in Perak
I had a wonderful time exploring Taiping and Gopeng in Perak with my cousins. I took a
train on Saturday morning of 19 June and was met by my uncle and aunt. My cousins were
waiting at home finalizing plans for a fun-filled week.
The following day was Sunday so my uncle drove all of us to Taiping. We visited the
Perak Museum which is the oldest museum in Malaysia. We also made a stop at the beautiful
Taiping Lake Gardens which was built in 1880 on a site of an abandoned tin mine.
On Monday, we went to Kinta Nature Park in Gopeng. A tour guide took us around
the wildlife reserve. There are over 100 species of birds and scores of other animals too.
After that, we visited the Gopeng Museum. It was located in an antique shophouse. There
were various old-fashioned household items and vintage furniture exhibited in the museum.
The next two days, we spent in the company with my cousins. We went out for meals
to sample the delicious local food.
On Thursday, I took a bus back to Kuala Lumpur.
