Method Statement for Ceiling Works

1. SCOPE / OBJECTIVES
1. This method statement shall insure that the perforated ceiling tiles and related activities
are executed safely and in accordance with the contract requirements and that all
quality assurance/control activities are conducted in a systematic manner.
2. This method statement is applicable to the following works associated with the project
for the installation of the suspended ceiling as per approved shop drawings.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. BQA Project Engineer is responsible to coordinate with the GMEC authorized
representative, project acceptor and/or the end user for obtaining required
and necessary work permits – if any, prior proceeding with works.
2. BQA Project Engineer shall ensure that the resources are available to carry out
the works as scheduled.
3. BQA Project Engineer / Site Engineer is responsible to carry out the works as
per approved detailed Engineering drawings and Method Statements.
4. The Site Engineer / Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the work has been carried
out as per specifications and approved construction drawings and inspections are
done as per contract.
5. The Site Engineer is responsible to ensure that the work performed is in compliance
with the approved method statement and other project requirements / specifications.
6. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that all safety precautions are in place and
that the personnel on site are equipped with the required and necessary PPE.
7. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that the required work permits are
available prior to the commencement of the work.

5. PROCEDURE
4.1 General Procedure
1. Before start of suspended ceiling works the following works need to be completed and
assessed by the BQA Engineer from all concerned parties.
• Plaster works to walls up to the required height.
• Protection of flooring.
2. An area for mock up will be prepared for inspection and approval before proceeding
the overall installation.
4.2 Installation
1. Wall angles shall be first fixed to the required ceiling level.
2. Then weld the hanger rod to the roof rafters at 1200 mm c.c.
3. The carrying channel are then attached to the hanger and aligned to the ceiling level at
1200mm c.c.

4. The triangle keel is then fixed to the carrying channel at 600 mm c.c with hanger clips.
5. The perforated ceiling tiles are then fixed to the triangle keel.

6. HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT (HSE)
1. All works shall be provided with proper tools and equipment to execute the work
safely.
2. Toll Box Meetings will be conducted before starting the works.
3. All personnel will be provided with suitable Personnel Protective Equipment.
4. Required permits will be obtained from the concerned authorities before starting
the works.

5. The work involves working at a height of 1.8 meters from floor level all the time
should wear full body safety harness.
