F1000Research – Systematic Review

This Word template contains the sections required for Systematic Reviews.

Please add the required text under each subheading. Mandatory sections are highlighted with a *. Please see our
guidelines for systematic reviews for detailed information on what each of the sections contain.

Systematic Reviews should follow the PRISMA guidelines. A completed PRISMA checklist and flowchart should be
uploaded to an online repository and details provided in the Reporting guidelines section of the data availability
statement.

Scoping reviews should follow the PRISMA-ScR guidelines.

Abstract*

This section should be completed as per the PRISMA 2020 for Abstracts checklist.

If the review is registered in PROSPERO, please add the registration ID and date.

Limit of 300 words.

Keywords*

Up to 8, separated by commas.

Main body

Introduction*

This section should be completed as per the PRISMA checklist, items 3 and 4. (For scoping reviews, see PRISMA-Scr,
items 3 and 4).

Methods*

This section should be completed as per the PRISMA checklist, items 5-15. (For scoping reviews, see PRISMA-Scr, items
6-13).

If the review is registered or a protocol is available, please provide the details in this section, as per PRISMA checklist,
item 24. (For scoping reviews, see PRISMA-Scr, item 5).

We advise using subheadings in the Methods section to improve the readability of the article.

This section should include enough detail so that others can reproduce your research.

Results*

This section should be completed as per the PRISMA checklist, items 16-22. (For scoping reviews, see PRISMA-Scr, items
14-18).

Discussion*

This section should be completed as per the PRISMA checklist, item 23. (For scoping reviews, see PRISMA-Scr, items 19-
21).

Data availability*

Every submission must include a data availability statement. More information about this mandatory section can be found
in our data guidelines. Please format this section as follows:

Underlying data*

“All data underlying the results are available as part of the article and no additional source data are required.”

Extended data

Repository name: Title of project, DOI. License.

Reporting guidelines*

Repository name: PRISMA abstracts/PRISMA/PRISMA-Scr checklist and flowchart for ‘<title of article>’. DOI. License.

Competing interests*

Any competing interests must be declared. See our policy for more information.

Grant information*

Any grants that supported the work must be listed here, including the grant number.

We accept any style of referencing if it is consistent.

Figure legends

Figures should be uploaded to the submission as separate TIFF or JPEG files at >300dpi.

Ensure any abbreviations/acronyms in the tables are explained in the legend.

Tables should be formatted using the ‘insert table’ function in Word at the end of the manuscript or provided as separate
Excel files.
