Activity Sheet

The document provides an activity sheet that includes 3 problems involving calculating confidence intervals from sample data. The first problem asks students to find the 95% confidence interval for the mean score of all Grade 11 students based on a sample of 49 students with a mean of 78 and population standard deviation of 0.16. The second problem involves calculating a 90% confidence interval for the quality rating of a product based on a sample of 25 customers with a mean rating of 4.5 and population standard deviation of 2.5. The third problem asks students to determine the 95% confidence interval for the actual mean content of containers based on a sample of 10 containers with a mean content of 10.5 liters and standard deviation of 0.352 liters

Activity Sheet

Name: ____________________________________ Year&Sec: _____________ Score: _____________

DIRECTION: Read and answer the following problems.
1. The mean score of a random sample of 49 Grade 11 students who took the first periodic test
is calculated to be 78. The population standard deviation is known to be 0.16. Find the 95%
confidence interval for the mean of the entire Grade 11 students.
2. A retail company wants to rate the quality of a product by using results from a customer
satisfaction survey. In the survey, the company asks respondents to rate the quality on a
scale of one to five, with one being the poorest quality and five being the highest quality. The
sample size is 25, the sample mean is 4.5 and the population standard deviation is 2.5. The
calculates the confidence interval assuming a 90% confidence level.
3. The mean and standard deviation of the content of a sample of 10 similar containers are 10.5
liters and 0.352, respectively. Find a 95% confidence interval for the actual mean content.
