public health, animal and plant quarantine and similar procedures are carried out.
(Source Annex 9, ICAO Doc 8973/7 and NCASP)
The aerodrome/heliport of entry and departure for international air traffic, where such formalities
as customs, immigration, public health, and animal and plant quarantine are carried out and
where air traffic services (ATC and ATIS) are available on a regular basis.
(CAAM’s e-AIP)
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS
❑ Airports that process the arrival,
departure and transfer of passengers
from Domestic Destination to another
International or Domestic Destinations.
❑ Multiple flight connections to Domestic
Destination and the surrounding
regions.
❑ Gateway to Malaysia.

❑ Example: KLIA, Penang International

Airport, Kota Kinabalu International
Airport, Kuching International Airport,
Langkawi International Airport
DOMESTIC AIRPORTS

Domestic Airport is an aerodrome used for domestic air traffic only

and where air traffic services are available on a regular basis.
(CAAM’s e-AIP)
DOMESTIC AIRPORTS
❑ Serve the needs for domestic airlines and air
travelers and do not have any international
connection.
❑ Some domestic airport also serve for international
flight(e.g Ipoh to Singapore)
