The hair texture of African men and women varies from Western Africa all the
way to Eastern Africa. It varies from thin to thick, from straight , and from
kinky curls, to tight peppercorn curls. Some scientists have attributed the
conditions of African geography to the type of hair texture a particular group
of Africans can have. In other words, Mother Africa texturized our hair.

Is the hair texture the same in all the Africa continent?

What is the reason to the variations of hair textures?

Who texturized our hair?

Spiritually, hair had a special significance in Africa. Many African cultures viewed the
head as the center of control, communication, and identity in the body. Hair was
considered a source of power that personified the individual and could be used for
spiritual purposes. Since it rests highest on the body, hair itself was a means to
communicate with divine spirits and it was believed to bring good luck and ward off evil.
Communication from the gods and spirits was thought to pass through the hair to get to
the soul.
Describe the importance of our hair.
