“A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF WORK STRESS TOWARD
THE STAFF PERFORMANCE IN THE BANK SIMPANAN
NASIONAL (BSN) PERAK STATE”

NAME OF STUDENT

1.1 Problem statement

Stress is an issue that will always happen in every organization. some stress
can interfere with the performance of an employee and can also have some effects
on the employee. stress will also occur in several aspects. Stress can occur in
several things such as work load, environment, family, company management and
others. According to Muhammad & Kishwar, (2019) Stress can be defined as work
pressure, stress can be described as the resistance to coming to work and the
constant feeling of pressure, thus work stress is a physical and emotional activity
that occurs when there is a gap between jobs. The Immense pressure of work load
will lead to stress, according to Cross Ogohi Daniel (2019) An employee spends
almost one third of his life on work, and sometimes he had to face a lot of stress
during his/her job. Meanwhile according to Daniel (2019), Most organizations
achieve high performance by burdening employees with excessive workloads to
meet deadlines and this has psychological and physical effects on employees that
sometimes produce something that is contrary to what the organization wants to
achieve.
however, stress can also bring changes to the performance of employees and
can lead to several possibilities for the organization. According to Kalaivani
Murugaiah (2021), Extreme work stress can make a person feel unappreciated,
which can lead to a drop performance. This is largely because employees are
disinterested in their work and underperform. Meanwhile, according to Anu Jossy
Joy & dr. G.s. Gireesh kumar (2018), Job stress is often described as closely
associated with performance and have serious implications on individual and
organizational performance. Plus, according to Cross Ogohi Daniel (2019) Stress
has been viewed as an environmental stimulus to an individual, it defined stress as
an individual's reaction to environmental forces that had effects on individual
performance. Because job stress can threat individual performance and family
functional, it is quite dangerous. Also, according to Lavuri (2019) he has conducted a
study where he says there are two types of pressure that can affect an employee's
work performance either positively or negatively depending on the employee's
perception.
