CYCLE 4: The Human Lifespan Learning Task - 100%

“The human lifespan starts at conception or fertilisation and ends at death.”


1. Learning Intention: Using ICT to present a chronological timeline of the human lifespan.
Identifying the growth and development that occurs at each stage. Work may be presented as
a timeline, Powerpoint, or booklet using ICT effectively and your laptop. Refer to the list of
resources but also complete your own research. Remember to include a bibliography.

2. Use your laptop to find images and show examples of each stage of the lifespan listed
below.
3. Label each stage clearly and collate the pictures in chronological order, identify the
beginning and end age at each stage – it is a good idea to use headings and sub headings
to make sure your work is clear, eligible and easy to follow.

Pregnancy - Prenatal stage 0-38-40 weeks

● Germinal stage: 0 to 2 weeks


● Embryo stage: 2 to 8 weeks
● Foetus stage: 8 to 38-40 weeks

Infancy – birth -2 years

Childhood – 2-12years (Early childhood 2-6 / Late Childhood 6-12)

Youth or adolescence – 12-18 years

Early adulthood - 18 - 40 years

Middle adulthood - 40- 65 years

Late adulthood - 65+ years

4. At each lifespan stage, identify 2 examples of each of the following where possible:
physical, intellectual, emotional and social, development that is relevant to each life
span stage.

Example: Infancy 0-2years


The infant starts to crawl and becomes more aware of its parents and
environment.

They get their first tooth.

5. ALPHA – At each of the 8 lifespan stages


include a section labelled “CHANGING WORLD” (this can be on a new slide) that explores
how our world has changed over the past 20 years and how these changes have effected
human development / social behaviours / emotional development / life expectancy etc. See
