1) What is a skeleton?

Ans. A skeleton is a strong frame that supports our body from the inside.

2) What is the skeleton made of?

Ans. Skeleton is made of Bones.

3) Why must skeletons be hard and strong?

Ans. Skeletons must be hard and strong to support our bodies.

4) Why do you think the bones of your skeleton are different sizes and
shapes?

Ans. Because they are in different parts of the body that do different things.
For example, legs for walking, handwriting, skull for protecting the brain.

5) Bones are not very heavy. How do you think this helps animals?

Ans. Bones are not very heavy for easier movement of animals from one
place to another.

6) What is the role of the skeleton?

Ans. Role of skeleton is to protect the body, give shape to the body, help us
to move from one place to another, and help us to grow.

7) How does the skeleton protect the brain?

Ans. Skeleton protects the brain by a hard protective bone called skull.

8) Which organs does the rib cage protect?

Ans. Ribcage protects the lungs and the heart.


9) Why do we need strong bones?

Ans. We need strong bones to support our body and give a proper shape to
our body.

10) Explain how our skeleton helps us to move?

Ans. We can move because there are muscles joined to bones of the
skeleton.

11) What are muscles?

Ans. Muscles are parts of the body that help us to move.

12) Where are muscles found?

Ans. Muscles are found under the skin.

13) How do the muscles contract?

Ans. When muscles get shorter they pull on the bones they are joined to.
We say that the muscles contract.

14) How do the muscles relax?

Ans. When muscles relax they get longer and let you rest.

15) Name the muscles that are present in the arm?

Ans. Biceps and triceps.

16) What are the benefits of movement for Our body?

Ans. Movement helps to keep us healthy in different ways.

• Makes your heart and lungs work better

• Makes your muscles and bones stronger

• Lets you stretch your body easily

• Helps to stop you from getting some illnesses

• Helps you think better

• Puts you in a good mood.

17) What are vertebrates?

Ans. Vertebrates are the animals which have bones inside their bodies. Also
they are the animals with a backbone.
18) What are invertebrates?

Ans. Invertebrates are the animals which have no bones . Also they are the
animals without a backbone.

19) What is exoskeleton?

Ans. Some invertebrate animals have hard locustskins or shells on the


outside of their bodies. This hard outer layer is called an exoskeleton.

20) What is the function of an exoskeleton?

Ans. The exoskeleton protects the animal and supports the animal’s body.
Insects, such as locusts and beetles, have an exoskeleton.

21) Name the animals which do not have an exoskeleton?

Ans. Other invertebrate animals such as worms and jellyfish have soft
bodies. These animals do not have an exoskeleton.

22) Name the 5 different group of vertebrate animals?

Ans. Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds and Mammals.

23)Name two mammals that live in sea ?

Ans. Whales and dolphins.

24)Name a Reptile that lives in water?

Ans. Crocodile.

25)What is the difference between a vertebrate and an invertebrate?

Ans.

They are classified in to five groups. They are not classified in to five
groups
Example: Fishes, mammals, birds, Examples: Worms, Insects.
reptiles.

26) What is an Identification key?

Ans. Scientists use Identification keys to help them sort and identify
objects, materials and living things.

27) Why we should take medicines?

Ans. We take medicines to help make us better when we have an

illness.

28) How can we take medicines safely?

Ans. You should only take medicines if they are given to you by a doctor, a
nurse or an adult who looks after you. All medicines come with
instructions. The instructions tell you how much medicine you must take
and how often you should take it. We must always follow those instructions.

29) What are the different ways of taking the medicines?

Ans. Medicines can be taken as injections, tablets, drip, Inhalers, creams


and ointments .etc.

30) What are vaccineations?

Ans. Some injections can stop or prevent us from getting illnesses such as
measles or flu. These injections are called vaccinations.

31) Predict what you think would happen if you did not take all of the
medicine the doctor gave you?

Ans. The disease can occur again if, we do not take all the medicines given
by the doctor.

32) Do you think we can use a cream as a medicine for a sore throat? Say
why or why not?

Ans. No we cannot use cream as a medicine for sore throat as creams are
used for skin diseases and they should be applies externally.
33) Why do you think people in hospital often get their medicine through a
drip?

Ans. As if the person has undergone a surgery, then the person cannot eat
the normal food and so through drip medicine and liquid glucose is
provided for energy to the patient.

34) Who invented the first vaccine?

Ans. Great Scientist Edward Jenner invented the first vaccine.

35) Which disease did the first vaccine prevent?

Ans. Small pox.

36) What is an infectious disease? Give examples?

Ans. An infectious disease is a disease that is caused by very tiny living


things we call germs. Flu, measles and malaria are some infectious diseases
that humans can have.

37) Name an infectious disease that animal and plants can have?

Ans. Plants have leaf blast disease and animals get Bird flu.

38) How can the farmer prevent the chicken from getting bird flu?

Ans. The farmer can vaccinate the chicken to prevent it from getting bird flu
