1) What is a skeleton?
Ans. A skeleton is a strong frame that supports our body from the inside.
4) Why do you think the bones of your skeleton are different sizes and
shapes?
Ans. Because they are in different parts of the body that do different things.
For example, legs for walking, handwriting, skull for protecting the brain.
5) Bones are not very heavy. How do you think this helps animals?
Ans. Bones are not very heavy for easier movement of animals from one
place to another.
Ans. Role of skeleton is to protect the body, give shape to the body, help us
to move from one place to another, and help us to grow.
Ans. Skeleton protects the brain by a hard protective bone called skull.
Ans. We need strong bones to support our body and give a proper shape to
our body.
Ans. We can move because there are muscles joined to bones of the
skeleton.
Ans. When muscles get shorter they pull on the bones they are joined to.
We say that the muscles contract.
Ans. When muscles relax they get longer and let you rest.
Ans. Vertebrates are the animals which have bones inside their bodies. Also
they are the animals with a backbone.
18) What are invertebrates?
Ans. Invertebrates are the animals which have no bones . Also they are the
animals without a backbone.
Ans. The exoskeleton protects the animal and supports the animal’s body.
Insects, such as locusts and beetles, have an exoskeleton.
Ans. Other invertebrate animals such as worms and jellyfish have soft
bodies. These animals do not have an exoskeleton.
