MODULE DESCRIPTION

This module provides an underpinning and understanding of Mathematical concepts

Introduction and applications used in the business world to aid decision making.

On completion of this module, the students will be able to:

Learning
Outcomes LO1: Convert the real world problems in to mathematical equations by using
Algebraic techniques and find the solutions by solving the algebraic
equations.
LO2: Solve linear and non-linear equations using numerical and graphical
techniques.
LO3: Apply laws in exponents and logarithms to solve the real world problems.
LO4: Calculate the indices and interpret the changes of the variables
LO5: Convert real situations in to matrices and find solutions to practical problems
by using metric algebra.
LO6: Apply financial mathematics techniques to solve the problem financial data
LO7: Apply Differentiation and Integration techniques to make decision in
Business filed.

Assessment During the semester, there will be a mid-term exam and a final exam. The mid-term
Criteria test will be based on lectures and tutorial work covered until the week before it is
held. The final examination will be a comprehensive exam based on the all topics
covered during the semester.
• Continuous Assessment
o Midterm Examination 20% LO1 – LO4
o Quizzes 20% LO5 – LO6
• Final Examination 60% LO1 – LO7
TOTAL 100%
Module To pass this module, students need to obtain a pass mark in both “Continuous
Requirement Assessments” and “End of the Semester Examination” components which would
result in an overall mark that would qualify for a “C” grade or above.
