STANDARD VOR PROCEDURES

HOMING

1. Rotate OBS until TO indication with CDI Center.

2. CDI center, head the course.
3. CDI deflects, re-center CDI.
4. Fly homing heading.

DETERMINING LINE OF POSITION (LOP)

1. Twist OBS to center CDI.

2. Check TO-FROM indication.
3. If TO indication, the reciprocal course index is the LOP.
4. If FROM indication, the course index is the LOP.

BASIC INTERCEPTION

 If the desired radial is less than 90 from present radial (LOP)

INBOUND

1. Determine the radial to be intercepted by checking the LOP and desired radial.
2. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the reciprocal course index and confirm if TO
indication.
3. Intercept radial by using 30, 60 and 90 of your course. (+if right CDI deflection, - if left)
4. CDI active, fly the course.

OUTBOUND

1. Determine the radial to be intercepted by checking the LOP and desired radial.
2. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the course index and confirm if FROM indication.
3. Intercept radial by using 30, 45 and 60 of your course. (+ if right CDI deflection, - if left)
4. CDI active, fly the course.

BOXING/BRACKETING METHOD

 If the desired radial is more than 90 from present radial (LOP)

INBOUND/ BOXING

1. Determine the radial to be intercepted.

2. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the reciprocal course index and confirm if TO
indication.
3. Fly parallel to the desired radial and wait for change flag.
4. Change flag, time for 2 minutes.

5. End time, proceed to basic interception.

OUTBOUND/ BRACKETING

1. Determine the radial to be intercepted.

2. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the course index and confirm if FROM indication.
3. Fly parallel to the desired radial and wait for change flag.
4. End time, proceed to basic interception.

PROCEDURAL TURN

1. Head 45 left/right of present course.

2. On the heading, time for 45 second.
3. Twist OBS to the reciprocal of present course.
4. End time, turn opposite of initial turn and intercept radial.

DME ARC

 Commence at 10% of your airspeed + DME to hold (10% GS + DME)

TO THE RIGHT
1. Twist OBS -10 of present course.
2. Head +90 of the course.
3. Center CDI, twist OBS -10.
4. Turn -10 of heading.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until intercept inbound of desired radial.

TO THE LEFT
1. Twist OBS +10 of present course.
2. Head -90 of the course.
3. Center CDI, twist OBS +10.
4. Turn +10 of heading.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until intercept inbound of desired radial.

TIME TO STATION

1. Twist OBS +/-10 of present course

2. Intercept using 90 of the course.
3. CDI center, start time.
4. Twist OBS +/-10
5. CDI center, end time.
6. Home to station.

HOLDING PATTERN (STANDARD)

DIRECT ENTRY

1. Over the fix, turn RIGHT and head the holding radial.
2. Wait for change flag.
3. Change flag, time for 1 minute.
4. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the reciprocal course index.
5. End time, turn RIGHT to intercept holding radial.

OFF SET ENTRY

1. Over the fix, head -30 of the holding radial.

2. On the heading, time for 1 minute.
3. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the reciprocal course index.
4. End time turn RIGHT to intercept holding radial.
5. Change flag, turn RIGHT and head the holding radial.
6. Wait for change flag.
7. Change flag, time for 1 minute.
8. End time, turn RIGHT to intercept holding radial.

PARALLEL ENTRY

1. Over the fix, turn LEFT head the holding radial.

2. On the heading, time for 1 minute.
3. Twist proper OBS, set the desired radial to the reciprocal course index.
4. End time, turn LEFT to intercept holding radial.
5. Change flag, turn RIGHT and head the holding radial.
6. Wait for change flag.
7. Change flag, time for 1 minute.
8. End time, turn RIGHT to intercept holding radial.
