Electrical Lv. 1
A motion sensor/detector is a security/ alarm device that
recognizes and detects the movement of objects in its
surroundings, such as humans, animals, or solid objects.
There are three things that can be adjusted on a motion
sensor which is time, angle, and distance. Two common
uses of motion detectors are activating automatic door
openers in businesses and public buildings and turning on
light when it detects movements. Some motion detectors
come with a small solar on them.
Advantages: Disadvantages:
Prevent burglary and theft on Any kind of movements can
commercial properties. trigger a PIR sensor.
Keep unauthorized personnel Passive motion sensors do not
from trespassing on restricted operate above temperature of
grounds. 350C.
Microwave sensor:
Microwave sensors detect motion
using Doppler radar and are similar to
a radar speed gun.
Active detectors:
Active motion sensors are also known as
radar-based motion sensors.
Gesture Detectors:
Gesture detectors use photodetectors and
infrared lighting elements with digital
screens to detect hand motions and
gestures.
