III. Lesson Proper

Teacher’s Activity: Student’s Activity:

A. Drill:

Good morning class!

Good morning Teacher Thea! Good
day classmates!
Wow! Great energy to start our day.
Now, before we continue, let us start
with a word of prayer. Mr. James, will
you please lead?
I’ll be glad to, Teacher!
Classmates, let us pray. Dear heavenly
Father, we praise and glorify You.
Thank you for all the blessings that
You’ve showered on us. We pray that
You’ll continue to give us knowledge
and wisdom to understand our lesson
today and use it in our daily life.
Please forgive us as we sin. In Jesus'
name, we pray, Amen.
Okay, before you take your seat, pick
up all the pieces of trash around you
and make sure that your chairs are
properly aligned.
*students take their seat*
Well done! Now, for our attendance,
do we have any absences for today?
None.

Very good!
A simple reminder to all. Remember to
listen carefully and participate actively
in our class discussion. Avoid
unnecessary movements. If you have
any concern or question, kindly raise
your question hand.
Noted, teacher.
B. Review:

Good to know! Now, before we

proceed with our topic for today, can
you remember our topic from the last
meeting?
Great! Take a look at these pictures
and try to explain our previous lesson
shortly.
These pictures refer to diabetes. It is
a disease in which the body produces
little or no insulin.

The other picture shows different

ways to reduce the risk of diabetes.
For example,having enough physical
activities, losing extra weight, and
making healthier food choices.
Short but full of facts! Can anyone still
remember the non communicable
diseases?
Me, Teacher Thea! Some of the
common non communicable diseases
are allergy, asthma, cardiovascular
disease, and arthritis.
Very good! Today we are going to
learn about another disease under
non communicable disease. Did you
do your assignment last meeting?
Yes, Teacher! I have it in my
notebook.
C. Springboard and
Motivation:

Great! To start, let me show you these

ribbons.

What do you think are these ribbons

for?
Based on my research, there are
different colors used to represent
different parts of our body.
Correct! What do you think is the
significance of those body parts to our
topic?
I think the significance of those body
parts to our lesson is that these are
few parts of our body where cancer
might start.
Exactly! This might sound alarming
that cancer could start in any part of
our body but there’s nothing to fear if
we know something about it. Right?
Yes! Teacher, there are lots of body
parts to know. Can we start with the
most common ones? Are there any
symptoms, warning signs, and
possible ways to prevent having
cancer?

D. Development of Lesson:

Timely questions! I have prepared

here sets of activities that we could do
by group and present it later on to our
class. Let us divide our class into 4
groups by counting 1 to 4, starting
here in front. *students will finish counting to know
what group they will belong*

Now that you know your group, bring

out your assignment as that will be
your guide in doing our activity. Group
1, please stand and move here in
front on my right side. Group 2,
please proceed here on my left side.
Group 3, proceed at the back close to
the window side of our room. And
group 4, proceed at the back too,
close to the door side of our room.
*students will stand, 1 group at a time
and proceed to their designated
places*
*The teacher will clap to get the
attention of the class* Each group will
be given mini tasks to accomplish. You
will do this in 10 minutes and prepare
to share your group output to the
class.

*Teacher will give the 1 envelope to

each group for their task.

Group 1 will do “Health Forecast”

activity to identify 3 of the most
common cancers. Group 2 will do a
“Picture Puzzle” to identify another 3 *groups will start doing their task
of the most common cancers. Group 3 using the materials provided and
will do an “Acrostic” using the word informations they have from their
caution and think of words that will assignment*
show the warning signs of cancer.
Lastly, group 4 will “Decode” numbers
to identify different ways to diagnose
and treat a cancer patient.

Group 1: Health Forecast

Students will be given a set of
pictures. Their task is to complete the
table of Most Common Cancers.

MOST COMMON CANCERS

OCCURS IT IS IT IS
Group 2: Picture Puzzle
Students will be receiving three sets of
picture puzzles. Their task is to
arrange the pictures and identify the
first three parts of the body where
cancer commonly occurs. They are
also tasked to discuss how common it
is. Additional information from each
group is expected such as how
common and curable it is.

Group 3: Acrostic

group 2? *group 2 will start presenting*

Good to know these common cancers.

Let us continue with the warning signs *group 3 will start presenting*
of cancer.

Great reminders! Much appreciated

ones. For our last group, let’s listen to *group 4 will start presenting*
group 4 as they will share how a
cancer patient could be diagnosed and
treated.

A job well done to all of you! Let’s

appreciate ourselves and our
classmates and do the “great job
clap”.

*students will do the great job clap*

E. Analysis

Now, listen very well to this scenario

and share your thought/s about it
afterwards. Raise your hand if you
want to answer.

“Aliyah is about to take her annual

check-up. After three days, the result
came out and knew that she was
already a cancer patient. If you were
Aliyah, how would you react the
moment you knew you were a cancer
patient?”
If it’s me, I’ll accept it little by little
and do my best to keep my body
healthy.

If that will be me, I’ll do research on

my own in advance to prepare myself
Nice responses and actions. I think we for this kind of disease.
learned a lot today. Don’t you think?
Let’s prove that and choose any of the
broken statements and complete it.

Complete the statement:

● I learned that…
● I realized that…

I learned that there are different types

of cancer. Most of it could be
prevented by having a healthy
lifestyle.

I realized that being knowledgeable

about cancer makes cancer not that
scary because I now know how to
protect myself and my family away
from it.
F. Application

Using canva, choose any slide and

share your thought/s on how you’ll
continue living if you are subjected as
a cancer patient and have a few
months to live.

Use the link uploaded to our group

chat or google classroom to this
activity. For those who can’t access it,
you may use these word clouds to

*students will start answering*
Do you have any questions on your
mind about cancer that you want to
clarify?
None, Teacher.
Okay. Let’s close in prayer. Is there
anyone who wants to lead?
Me, Teacher.

Let us pray. Dear God, we thank you

for guiding us this day. We pray that
these lessons will stay with us and
