Endocrine System
Endocrine System
- is in charge of the body processes that happen rather slowly for example how fast the height of the
person should increase or maintenance of a constant level of electrolytes and ions in the blood or body’s
metabolic rate.
to various parts of your body. they regulate the processes of your body and make sure all the hormones
get where they need to go.
It consists of the following glands are located all over the human body.
Each gland of the endocrine system produces chemicals called. hormones. And each hormone has a
different job. The glands are spread out through the body. A lot of them are controlled by a little gland
near the base of your brain, called the pituitary.
Pituitary gland produces growth hormone, which is what makes you grow big and tall. According to the
them, without it, the body wouldn't reproduce, wouldn't grow properly and many other bodily functions
just wouldn't function.
Thyroid gland is regulating how fast your body uses the calories from food you eat that’s called
metabolism. Located in the neck which secretes important thyroid hormones which affect nearly all the
cells of the body and maintain proper metabolism of the body cells. Behind the thyroid gland we have
these four yellow parathyroid glands. this hormone regulates the calcium and vitamin metabolism in
the body. One of the largest of all endocrine glands weighing about 15 to 20 grams.
Adrenal glands they make adrenaline. Its located Above the kidneys. Which secrete a variety of
hormones that affect the metabolism of glucose electrolytes. These glands are called adrenals because
they are just present just adjacent to the kidney.
Pancreas the biggest gland of the endocrine system. It produces insulin. It’s the chemical that helps you
use energy from the food you eat. Insulin which is important for the metabolism of glucose fats as well
as proteins. Pancreas makes insulin and the nervous system handles adrenaline, it still vital endocrine
wise.
Reproductive glands, one of the most important things they do is make sure your body goes through
the changes of puberty. So, you can grow from a child to an adult. Ovaries oversee puberty in girls and
excrete a hormone called estrogen. Produces sex hormones the estrogen and progesterone.
The primary male and female hormones are called the androgen and estrogen. Males can produce these
hormones in the testes, while women produce them in the ovaries. Although male and female possess
both of these types of hormone, they possess them in significantly different amounts. For instance, the
majority of males produce an immense amount of testosterone, a form of an androgen, whereas
women barely produce any amount. This relationship is the same with the male possessing levels of
estrogen. Males still do produce this hormone, but in extremely small amount daily.
How does the endocrine system work?
Those glands that I mentioned earlier secrete hormones which act as chemical messengers that are then
distributed to whole of the body through the blood stream to initiate a specific effect for example the pancreas,
secretes one of the important hormones the insulin the pancreas has a rich blood supply through which it can
concentrations of the glucose in the blood whenever we eat the concentration of glucose in the blood rises which
is detected by the pancreas upon which it release hormone insulin this hormone activates most of the cells of the
body to take up the extra glucose in the blood which stabilizes the normal glucose concentration in the blood and
most of the hormones produced by the human endocrine system.
Some hormones affect only in specific part of function of the body for example testosterone which affects only the
gonads as well as the secondary sexual
While there are some hormones which nearly affect all the human cells include thyroid hormones which act on
almost every cell of the body.
Testes is for male, they are found right down here. They produce hormone called
testosterone.
The next is Ovaries. Ovaries is for female, this is found right here. They produce estrogen
hormone.
The next is Adrenal, it’ s located right here, the yellow and the green one. They gives
epinephrine and glucocorticoids, it is a anti inflammatory.
Next is pancreas, it is found right here it. As you can see it is near the stomach and it is
produces insulin, that help the body digest food and regulate blood sugar.
Next is the Parathyroid, it is located right here. It is within the thyroid. And that is help
raised the blood calcium.
The next is Thyroid gland, it is found right here, it produces calcitonin that to lower blood
calcium and also give off t3 and t4, those hormones and the numbers are relates to the
number of iodine atoms that are found within it.
The next is Pituitary gland, they are found right here, this is small organ in the brain and it
produces anti-diuretic hormones that keeps our body holding on to water, retaining water
and growth hormone and that’s cause our cells to grow.
