Introduction to the company:

Established in 1990 and headquartered at Bangalore, DTDC has 7 Zonal offices, 20


strategically located Regional Offices and over 430 operating facilities spread across India.
DTDC has now embarked upon its journey of transforming its identity from an Express
Document Player to an Integrated Parcels driven business through its strategic partnership
with Geopost’s DPD group – Europe’s second largest Parcels Delivery player. The brand
name is now being re-christened to DTDC Express Limited as the company focuses to
enhance their expertise in the logistics sector under their Vision 2020 program. The strategy
behind the repositioning of the brand is to project DTDC as a complete express logistics
player that delivers significant value in the markets that it operates in across the globe. DTDC
Express Limited has its presence in more than 500 district headquarters through its large
network of more than 10500 franchisees and extends services to over 10,500 Pin codes while
handling more than 12 million shipments every month.

DTDC Express Limited also has a significant global footprint and services 240 international
locations including USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Hong Kong, Australia, China and all Asian
countries, through its own operations, joint ventures and business associates. A key part of

Features of Services of DTDC:

DTDC showcases exclusive features that endorse its brand and positioning. It maintains high
standards and quality with a set of simple principles and smart technology:

1. Reliability

DTDC tracks and traces the consignment with its customized software named Consignment
Tracking and Billing System (CTBS). Delivery commitment is ensured with added focus on
minimizing possible delays in the delivery timeline. The client is involved in the process,
with transparency about the consignment transit time and a feedback mechanism of the
delivery details.

2. Safety

DTDC has incorporated a system of reports that double checks the consignment status right
from pickup, delivery and receipt of the Proof of Delivery (POD) details into the CTBS
system and the internet. A chain of records is generated for every process to which the
consignment is subjected. This also detects any damages to the consignment at every stage of
its journey. The consignment is also tracked at every stage to identify and minimize delays.

3. Security

For all bookings done over the counter and from cash counters, the cargo is physically
checked for restricted and banned items. The consignments picked up from regular customers
are also subject to random check for corrosive, poisonous or explosive contents or any other
substance that may cause damage to the mode of transportation of the cargo.

Various services offered by DTDC:

1) Domestic courier service:

The domestic package of services is designed for the customer’s time-sensitive needs. Its
components include:

DTDC Lite represents the basic services for handling deliveries in express and cargo mode in
India. There are two services offered under this:

a. Domestic Express Services for delivering documents and small parcels.


b. Domestic Cargo Services for delivering heavier consignments that require special
arrangements such as bigger vehicles, dedicated manpower and material handling
equipment. It ensures priority deliveries at optimal costs, in both air and surface
modes.

2) International services:

DTDC has successfully transformed itself from a domestic courier company to a full scale
supply chain solutions provider offering domestic and international express, freight,
transportation, logistics management, warehousing and distribution services.

International Products and Services can broadly be classified in two major categories:
Express and Cargo Services

A) Express Services

International Document Express Services is Expedited Air Express Services, designed to


deliver time-sensitive documents worldwide.

International Non Document Express Services is Air Parcel Services, designed to deliver
parcels worldwide via a swift customs clearance channel at the origin and destination
countries.

B) Cargo Services
 Door to Door (Express / Economy Services) is the movement of large commercial
shipments either on express or economy mode from origin door to destination door.

 Door to Airport (Express / Deferred Services) is the movement of large commercial


shipments either on express or economy mode from origin door to destination airport.
 Airport to Airport (Express / Deferred Services) is the movement of large commercial
shipments from origin airport to destination airport.

Additionally, over the years, DTDC has introduced many customized products such as:

 Student Express: This product has been designed specifically to address to critical
and sensitive needs of the Student segment. Students from India sending application forms,
statements of purpose, and other personal documents to universities and institutes abroad can
now avail attractive schemes from DTDC that include special prices, 24/7 online tracking,
free home pick-up and guaranteed delivery.

 Excess Baggage: Often, customers who are relocating to/from, vacationing or visiting
loved ones in international locations face issues carrying excess baggage back with them or
are charged high EBT charges by the airlines. DTDC offer seamless and relatively cost-
effective solutions with safe packaging and reasonable time frames of delivery, for such
requests.

 Imports Express: Subject to custom clearances and various other permits required,
DTDC offer solutions for Import into India through Express modes.

 International Cash on Delivery: DTDC’s customers outside India can request pick-
up from anywhere in India at their local DTDC offices and receive them at their doorstep,
with payment made by the consignee on receipt of shipment.

3) Premium Express Services


Premium Express Product assures delivery to metropolitan and major cities. This
provision is custom-made for the seamless delivery of urgent consignments.
DTDC Plus assures Next Business Day (NBD) delivery on priority in all metros and
major cities. This service includes:
 Delivery of documents and packages up to 10 kilos
 Online track and trace status of consignments
 Tamper-proof security pouch
 Delivery confirmation via email and SMS alerts

4) Priority
Realizing the need to cater to a very niche client base that includes large corporate clients,
multi-nationals, financial institutes, and banking and insurance companies, DTDC has
introduced an exclusive product called Priority Product. This product gets special attention in
terms of its deliveries done at the destinations.
High Priority Day Definite service for urgent and important documents and packages. Service
available through Air, Surface and Express modes. It includes,

 Priority Air: Handling cargo shipments which will be shipped by Air.


 Priority Surface: Handling cargo shipments which will be shipped by Rail/Road.
 Priority Express: Handling document packages which will be shipped by the fastest
express mode available.

5) International Freight Forwarding


DTDC Worldwide Global Logistics
At DTDC WorldWide Express, the International Freight Forwarding (IFF) business division
of DTDC, they optimize supply chain first and foremost. they utilize their network of
transportation carriers and modes to manage and streamline goods – including customs,
documentation and compliance. DTDC’s global network and reach offer the end-to-end
portfolio of transportation and value-added services in all modes of transportation. A brief
summary of our products and services are as below:

a. Air Services: DTDC’s air freight services are flexible and can be customized as per
the requirements of customers. They offer express delivery of time-critical shipments
within a defined transit time, direct services to anywhere for shipments of all sizes
and weights, pre-clearance documentation and Proof of Delivery (POD) and end-to-
end track and trace visibility. We also offer dedicated transportation and 24/7 service
desk to cater to your charter needs anywhere.

b. Sea-Air Service: DTDC’s Sea-Air service is a solution designed for shipments that
require faster delivery than standard ocean transit times, yet more economical than
standard air freight rates. They offer customs clearance facilities, documentation
generation and Proof of Delivery (POD), as well as round-the-clock tracking
functionality.

c. Ocean Freight Services: DTDC’s array of ocean freight services are implemented
through ocean freight charters and global service contracts with all major shipping
lines. These services include Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container
Load (LCL) services, consolidation services i.e. FCL/LCL and LCL/FCL, Break Bulk
services, and special services for out-of-gauge cargo or special equipment. They offer
door-to-door deliveries to and from anywhere, full customs brokerage and
documentation services (pre and post shipment) and global tracking solutions.

d. Project Cargo: Specialized solutions for over-dimensional or hazardous cargo and


break bulk shipments.
