Marks: 5x14=70 During the trial of single-cylinder, four-stroke oil engine, the following results. L4 COI 14M were obtained Cylinder diameter 200m Stroke 40cm Mean effective pressure 6 bar Torque 407Nm Speed 250rpm Oil consumption 4kgh CN Fuel 43 Milkg Cooling water flow rate 4.5 kg/min Air used per kg of fuel 30kg Rise in cooling water temperature 45°C ‘Temperature of exhaust gases 420°C Room temperature 20°C Mean specific heat of exhaust gas 1kiikg K Specific heat of water 4.18 ki/kg K Find the ip, bp, and draw up heat balance sheet for the test in ki/a (OR) (@) Compare two stroke and four stroke engines, L4 col 7™M (b) Discuss construction and working of four stroke petrol engine L3. COL 7™M Calculate the power required to compress 25 m’/min atmospheric air at 101.3 L4 CO2 14M KPa, 20°C to a pressure ratio of 7 in an LP cylinder. Air is then cooled at constant pressure to 25°C in an intercooler, before entering HP cylinder where air is again compressed to a pressure ratio of 6. Assume polytropic compression with n=1.3 and R= 0.287 ki/kg.
