B. Proposed Project Title: “Bayanihan sa Gulayan”

C. Issue Or Concern Addressed by the Project (Murillo, Paña & Tulagan)

The following issues that will be addressed through the benefits of this project are the
following:
● Issues concerning Public Health - The project will help on the improvements of
public health by providing an accessible garden that will be able to supply their
needs in order to achieve better health in the community. Through seminars, the
proponents will be able to discuss its importance.
● Lack of access to nutritional or beneficial foods - This community garden will
provide access to fresh, locally-grown produce, which promotes healthier eating
habits and can improve nutrition outcomes for individuals and families.
● Environmental Issues caused by lack of planting areas - This project can
help to promote sustainability and conservation efforts, such as composting and
reducing waste. By growing food locally, community gardens also reduce the
carbon footprint associated with transporting food long distances.

D. United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Addressed (Gamba & Delos Reyes)

● Good Health and Well-Being

Good Health and Well-Being, highlights the necessity of keeping a healthy
lifestyle as we go about our daily lives. Numerous methods will be used to achieve this
UN SDG. But in this case, the project we'll be presenting will be the way by which we
accomplish this, as it underscores the relevance of community gardens in providing
nourishing and sustainable resources that, when used, promote physical fitness.

● Sustainable Cities and Communities

When aiming towards the growth of communities, sustainable cities, and
communities must be taken into account. People will be able to comprehend the
importance of teamwork in completing the project through this project proposal.
Communities will be able to adjust and continuously improve the initially proposed
project once they are familiar with the procedures for carrying out this project. People
will subsequently be able to promote this idea throughout their own communities and
contribute to expanding the project's potential.

● Climate Action
One of the key criteria for determining the success of this project is achieving UN
SDG No. 13 Climate Action. Given that the focus of this project is community gardens,
there is a possibility that the vegetables planted could increase food availability while
also lowering greenhouse gas emissions because they release oxygen into the air and
store carbon in trees. The minor enhancements can be considerably more effective
when this project becomes well-known across multiple places, raising awareness of the
importance of taking simple measures to restore the environment.

● Life on Land
Last but not least, this project demonstrates how UN SDG 15: Life on Land may
be achieved because it emphasizes how community gardens increase biodiversity and
preserve and restore our ecosystems.

E. Target Beneficiaries of the Project (Isleta, Lopez & Alquizor)

Located in Batangas City, Barangay Libjo has a total population of 12,256. According to
the 2020 Census, Barangay Libjo represented 3.4% of the total population of Batangas City.
According to the 2020 census, Libjo has an average of 4-5 members in each household. We
will be mainly focusing on the dependent residing people in Barangay Libjo, and that includes
the elderly, income-challenged individuals, and others that need assistance. Since more than
half of the population in Libjo are actual members of the workforce and have a consistent
income annually, we will be focusing more on unfortunate individuals and household
representatives.
F. Objectives (Alquizor, Gamba & Laure)

General statement: This project aims to improve the general health of the target
community/ Specifically, it seeks to attain the following objectives:
● To promote and strengthen community pride and foster relationships through shared
collaboration in the garden activities
● To create a space for the community members to act together for a common purpose
and benefit
● To improve nutritional health by increasing the consumption and production of healthy
locally grown food
● To reduce environmental impacts by encouraging community members to participate in
growing practices that are sustainable and environmentally responsible

G. Brief Project Description (Tulagan)

The Bayanihan sa Gulayan project intends to offer the community a place where
individuals may work together to cultivate a variety of vegetables that are beneficial for the
environment as well as the health and well-being of community members. In this project,
community members will be strongly encouraged to work together to increase the supply of
healthy foods, foster relationships within the community, reduce adverse environmental effects,
lower expenses associated with food transportation, lower water runoff, and build a more
sustainable community. The project is designed to inspire and involve communities that want
to develop prosperous, healthy, and united societies.

H. Background or Inspiration to the Proposal (Catibog & Alquizor)

The proponents of modernized gardening have opted for mitigating the harmful effects of
types of machinery by using manpower. The project also aims to restore the bond between
community members through participating in maintaining the garden and minimizing food
scarcity and the lack of nutritious foods within the target community. We have identified several
key ideas that motivated us for this project. Still, it is the idea of a community capable of
producing and minimizing these risks that motivate us for this project. We aspire to leave with
the target community the tools and methods in solving one of the many problems that Filipinos
face today—food scarcity.

I. Guidelines: (Paña)

The guidelines or details that will guide the proponents in implementing this project will be:
1.) The proponents will seek permission for the chosen beneficiaries regarding the
implementation of the project.
2.) Assuming that the proponents are permitted, they will schedule an earlier date to
discuss the project and its purpose.
3.) On a later date, the proponents will prepare all necessary documents, equipment,
materials, and plans for the expenses in order to achieve the purpose of the project.
4.) Within the 8 sessions, the proponents will plant crops, work in order to grow the plants,
have a regular check about the condition of plants, assess and evaluate the process of
such a project, and mandate the participation of such beneficiaries and proponents.
5.) During the last part of the session, the distribution of the product and the output of the
project for the beneficiaries will occur.
