as practicable. Figure in the margin indicate full marks.

Group-A: Comprehensive Type Question


Compulsory Question [1×15=15]
1. A company produces 3 products P, Q, R from 3 raw materials A,
B, C. One unit of P requires 2 units of A and 3 units of B. One
unit of Q requires 2 units of B and 5 units of C and one unit of R
requires 3 units of A, 2 units of B and 4 units of C. In total the
company have 8 units of material A, 10 units of material B and
15 units of material C. The profits per unit of P, Q, R are 3, 5, 4
respectively.
a. Formulate the LPP
b. How many units of each products should be produced in
order to maximize the profit?

Group-B: Long Answer Type Questions


Answer any TWO questions [2×10=20]
2. “Production Management is the process of planning, organizing,
and controlling the activities of a production function”.
Elaborate.
3. A firm operates a flow shop building kitchen cabinetry for
recreational vehicles. The major activities of the process are
listed below:

Required:
a. Draw a Precedence diagram
b. Determine the desired cycle time if the goal is to produce
20 units per month and the plant operates 160 hrs. per
month
c. What would be the minimum number of work station?
d. Assign the tasks to each station based on longest operating
time rule.
e. Determine the efficiency and the balance delay of the
process. How many processes are delayed?
4. Five jobs are to be done at a Customer Care Center:

Group-C: Short Answer Type Questions


Answer any SEVEN questions. Q.N. 12 is compulsory. [7×5= 35]
5. You are in-charge of ordering items at a department store. The
average daily demand for one of the products is 20 units with a
standard deviation of 4. If you order the product directly from
the manufacturer, they will take, on an average, 16 days to
supply with a standard deviation in lead time of 2. If your review
period is 6 days and you wish to ensure 95% service level, what
should be the maximum inventory level or the replenishment
level or target stock level)? (z-value at 95% = 1.65)
6. McKinley Co. sells mango juice tins to a retail superstore. Once
in 12 days, the delivery boy stops by and checks the inventory
level. He then places an order that is delivered 4 days later. The
average demand is 200 tins and the standard deviation of demand
is 25 tins. Determine the quantity to be ordered so as the retail
store wants enough inventory on hand to meet the demand 90
percent of the time. (z-value at 90% =1.28).
7. John’s log has decided to an analysis for the change of suppliers.
He expects to produce 240 units using the old supplier, and 260
using the new supplier. He pays $10 per hour per labor. He will
use 300 labors hours for current supplier and 308 hours for new
supplier. Other costs will be consistent (i.e. same)for both
suppliers (Material are $10 per log using a total of 100logs;
capital costs will be $350 and Energy $10)
a. What is the total cost for current and new suppliers?
b. Calculate the labor productivity, Material productivity and
Energy productivity for both the suppliers.
c. What is the multifactor productivity for current and new
supplier?
8. A company is evaluating Delhi and Mumbai as alternative
location for a new manufacturing plant. The following rating
