TRUNIONS

This document provides calculations to verify the lifting trunions and apparatus on a vessel. It calculates maximum trunion length and diameter, load ratings, and checks weld strength, pad thickness, and permissible loads on the shell at various lift angles. The checks all confirm the design meets standards. It also recommends using slings rated to 1.55 tons working load limit for lifting, ensuring the sling skew angle remains less than 5 degrees.

* These values are entered divided by the impact factor, because DIN calculations inflict the impact factor
in the maximum loads (Fll, Flu etc)
RECOMMENDED SLINGS PER EN13414-1: 1.55 TONS WLL*
For lifting with trunions, ensure proper sling length so that skew angle among sling & vertical "β"
remains < 5° . Else, consider using spreader beam
