correct and up to date. And accountants should assist bookkeepers when something is unclear

How do you answer questions from clients who do not have any background in
accounting?
Well, the answer is simple. I would refrain from using accounting jargon. I tend to choose my
words carefully and properly to make my response or explanation easy to understand.
What strategies do you use to detect fraudulent entries in a journal or ledger?
Trending of balances wherein significant peaks are checked versus the supporting document.
Identifying red flags, i.e. abnormal balances, manual adjustments versus system entries,
unresponded HOBA accounts, long outstanding items, miscellaneous accounts, etc. Not to
mention, balancing of GL and SL with the supporting docs among others.
How do you feel about working with other accountants daily? Can you give me an
example that demonstrates your teamwork skills?
For me, working with other accountants is beneficial as we can check each other's work and
that would make the investigation about some issues easier. For example, when there are some
discrepancies and one is unable to detect them, we help each other out. Also, when one must
take a leave because of urgent reasons, we took on additional roles even if it meant working
long hours.
ACCOUNTING MANAGER
How do you maintain accounting accuracy from your staff in the department?
Well, I have a keen eye for details, and I always make sure to carefully check the work of my
staff. Also, I utilize some tools such as _____ to thoroughly check data.

From my experience, I have learned the importance of understanding the trend. Therefore, I
tend to check previous records with a critical eye to make practical suggestions to address the
