Here are the steps to determine if a number is prime or not: 1) Write out all the factors of the number, including 1 and the number itself. 2) If the only factors are 1 and the number, it is a prime number. 3) If there are more than two factors, it is not a prime number. For 7: The only factors of 7 are 1 and 7. Therefore, 7 is a prime number. For 8: The factors of 8 are 1, 2, 4, 8. Since there are more than two factors, 8 is not a prime number. Is the number 11 a prime number? Why or why not? 11 is a prime number.
