I would like to introduce myself as ANJALI VAZHAKKATT an Indian resident, looking forward to
complete a post graduation in Construction Project Management from Lambton College in Canada. I
am a civil engineer, who constantly wish to upgrade my profession. Currently I work as accredited
engineer in Local self-government department of Kerala. About my academics - I have completed
my 10th grade with 94 percentages of marks in the year of 2010 and 12th grade with 87 percentage
of marks in the year of 2012 from Government Higher Secondary school, Chathanur. I completed my
bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Malabar College of Engineering and Technology,
Thrissur with 74 percentages of marks in 2016. I have worked as a site engineer trainee for six
months in Hometech Constructions, India, which is owned by my father. Then I completed a
certificate course on Quantity survey from Techshore Inspection Service, Ernakulam. I got placed in
a private construction firm RP enterprise in Thrissur as junior estimation engineer. After working
there for one year and eight months, I got appointed as Accredited Engineer in MGNREGS section
on contract basis, which is a mission by Government of India. I have been working there since
august 2018.My duty includes procurement, storage and utilization of construction materials,
arranging of skilled and unskilled laborers for the works, overall supervision of all the works
executed under MGNREGS in the panchayath, carry out technical feasibility studies, Preparation of
detailed estimates, drawings and location maps of the watershed activities by adopting Integrated
Natural Resource Management Approach and its implementation.
My father is also a civil engineer. I grew up watching him and I always found construction to
be my passion. I started being interested in this field by helping him with engineering drawings and
designs since my school days. He started his own construction firm named as Hometech
constructions in 2015. I work part time in his firm while I work at other companies and still I assist
him. It is my ultimate goal to run a construction firm by my own. Since my father is about to retire, I
have to take over his firm. In the past six years, I have gained adequate experience in the field of
construction from different companies and institutions. But still I don’t find it enough to run a
business by my own as I lack managerial skills. So it would be a perfect time for me to take up a post
graduation in Construction Project Management along with Co-op from Lambton College. This
course covers subjects like construction methods, materials and codes, construction job site
management, reading and drafting of blueprint etc. which are essential skills for a construction
manager. Human resource management is also a subject of study in this course, which will help me
out in future for running my own construction firm. I can learn how to avoid costly delays, control a
project’s scope and maximize resources and existing budgets. The bachelor’s degree syllabus doesn’t
cover enough on the above mentioned topics. I found the work integrated learning project in the
fourth semester as exclusive, as it focus to make connections between study and industry by
engaging students in relevant and meaningful activities that are connected to and practiced within the
professional workplace
The possible skills and knowledge I will attain after studying this program includes
Lambton College is a modern and reputed college very well known for its high educational
standards. As most of the students prefer either to get placed in reputed organizations or continue
with higher studies after post- graduating from this university. Construction Project management at
Lambton college is one of the best courses of its kind in Canada , equipping graduates with
theoretical knowledge, practical and technical skills to manage people and projects within the
construction industry. Along with Co-op option offers me a practical experiential element over the
traditional one and half year degree structure, allowing me to reflect on theory and practice.
Choosing Canada as my study destination has been a strategic decision for me. I have checked out
the review aggregator websites to gain a detailed knowledge about the academic environment in
Canada. The government in Canada monitors the quality of education in the universities and
colleges. It also provides these institutes with various aids. As a result education in Canada is more
affordable to students. I have compared the course fee and living expenses in Canada to other
countries. If I study in Canada, I will be able to gain a better quality of education at a lower cost.
I have a strong bond with my family. Especially my son. He is just about to turn two year old.
My parents and husband will take care of him during my studies. He will be four when I complete
my post-graduation. I want to be with him when he starts schooling, I don’t want him to grow up
motherless. It will be difficult for me to pursue my education when my son starts schooling, as I have
to support him. So I find this time to be the perfect time for completing studies and developing a
career. My husband and I got married after 7 years of relationship. I can’t leave him for so long. I am
the only child of my parents and heir to all their properties. I have to take care of them in their old
age. My father sponsors me for my studies, and he will be paying for any additional fees and
expenses in Canada. My family has been my biggest support, so I have to come back to them. I have
attached the net worth CA valuation report along with this application.
Hoping that I have clarified my reasons for choosing to study in Canada and my aspirations I would
like to believe that my student visa application would be approved for taking up the desired program
in May 2023 intake at Lambton College. I strongly believe that a post graduation from this reputed
university would always remain a golden feather in the cap.
