Odisha Launched e-Receipt 2.0
• Odisha introduced the new model of electronic receipt “e-Receipt 2.0”.
• The revamped e-receipt “e-Receipt 2.0” will avail the new modes of payment of
taxes and other dues to the people of Odisha.
• In e-Receipt 2.0, The Odisha Treasury Portal has integrated with the Payment
Gateway Service providers of the Indian Bank and Axis Bank to avail services of
the bank through their Payment Gateway Service providers.

Delhi implements “Business Blasters” programme
• Delhi launched the “Business Blasters” programme, which will be implemented in
all the Government run schools across Delhi. This program aims to inculcate
entrepreneurship mindset at the school-level, it is an initiative under Delhi’s
ambitious “Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum”
• Under the Business Blasters programme, Classes XI and XII of Delhi government
schools will be provided with a Seed Money of Rs. 2,000 to start a business.
• Top 10 projects under the Business Blasters programme will be directly admitted to
the BBA course in Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSTU) and Delhi
Technological University (DTU).

Tamil Nadu announced 1st ever Dugong
Conservation reserve in Palk Bay
• Tamil Nadu announced the plan to establish India’s first-ever Dugong (also known as Sea cows)
Conservation Reserve in the marine region of Palk Bay, in the southern coastal region of Tamil
Nadu.
• The conservation reserve aims to protect the Dugong and its habitat.
• The dugong, a herbivorous marine mammal that is one of the four living species of the order
Sirenia, is facing extinction due to water pollution, habitat loss and loss of seagrass.
• In India, dugongs are found in Palk Bay, Gulf of Mannar in Tamil Nadu, Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat and
Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Gujarat rolls out ‘Vatan Prem Yojana’ for
Non-Resident Gujarat People
• The state government of Gujarat initiated ‘Vatan Prem Yojana’ which encourages NRIs from Gujarat
or people living anywhere in India with Gujarati origins to fund development projects in their native
villages.
• Under this scheme, the state government envisages to develop public welfare projects worth Rs
1000 crore by December 2022.
• The donor can fund a minimum 60% of projects and the balance up to 40% will be provided by the
State government
• This scheme is the repackaged version of ‘Madar-e-Watan’ scheme launched by the state
government in the 2020 annual budget to encourage collaboration of NRI with the government for
village-level projects.

• Aaditya Thackeray launched the first ever Climate Action Plan for Mumbai.

• This project, the first of its kind in India, will make use of a special machine developed by Finland’s River
Recycle, which would collect floating plastic waste to clean the river.
• It would have six thematic action areas such as sustainable waste management, urban greening and
biodiversity, urban flooding and water resource management, building energy efficiency, air quality and
sustainable mobility.

• The Central Banks of Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa have launched ‘Project
Dunbar’ under which Reserve Bank of Australia, Bank Negara Malaysia, Monetary Authority of
Singapore and South African Reserve Bank will test the use of central bank digital currencies
(CBDCs) for international settlements.
• This project will be led by the Singapore Centre of Bank of International Settlements Innovation
Hub.
• The project aims to develop prototype shared platforms for multi-CBDC settlement that fulfils the
needs and requirements of central banks and financial institutions.
• The results of this project will be published by 2022, but the platform prototypes will debut at the

National Teachers Day 2021 – September 5
• National Teachers day is annually observed across India on 5th September to commemorate the birth anniversary of the respected
teacher and prolific statesman Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan
• He was born on 5th September 1888 in Tiruttani, Madras Presidency (Now Tamil Nadu).
• Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan served as the first vice president of Independent India from 1952 to 1962 and later served as the 2nd
President of India from 1962 to 1967.
• The government of India honoured him with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1954 for public affairs.
• On the occasion of National Teachers Day 2021, Ram Nath Kovind, President of India, presented the National Teachers Awards 2021 to
the 44 teachers who were selected from all over India.
• A documentary film on each of the 44 awardees was also shown at the online ceremony.
• The National Teachers Day 2021, 5th September 2021, also marks the beginning of Shikshak Parv 2021, which will be

• Pashupati Kumar Paras, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries and Prahlad Singh Patel,
Minister of State for Food Processing Industries virtually inaugurated five food processing projects
in the states of Assam (1), Gujarat (3) and Karnataka (1).
• The total cost of these 5 projects is around Rs 124.44 crores and the grant from MoFPI is around
Rs 28.02 crores.

• The United Nations International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies is annually observed on 7th September
to create awareness about the importance of healthy air and the effects of air pollution, one of the
environmental threats, on humans health.
• The official commemoration of the 2021 International Day of Clean Air for blue skies takes place in
Nairobi, Kenya; New York, United States of America and Bangkok, Thailand.

• The BreathLife Campaign aims to mobilize cities and individuals to protect our health and environment

• UNESCO adopted a new UNESCO Strategy for Youth and Adult Literacy for 2020 to 2025 at UNESCO’s 40th General Conference in

• World Suicide Prevention Day is annually observed across the globe on

Haryana first State in Installation of
Solar Pumps under PM KUSUM Scheme
• Haryana has become the first state in the country to install off-grid solar pumps under the Pradhan Mantri
Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Uttan Mahabhiyan
• So far, Haryana has installed 14,418 pumps against the sanctioned 15,000 pumps for the year 2020-21.
• Under the PM KUSUM scheme, the target was to set up 20 lakh standalone solar pumps, under which
Haryana was given a target of setting up 15,000 pumps
• New target has increased at setting up 22,000 pumps for financial year 2021-22.
• The PM-KUSUM scheme was launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to support installation
of off-grid solar pumps in rural areas and reduce dependence on grid, in grid-connected areas.
• The government’s Budget for 2020-21 expanded the scope for the scheme with 20 lakh farmers to be provided
assistance to install standalone solar pumps; another 15 lakh farmers to be given help to solarise their grid-
connected pump sets.

Telangana became 1st Indian State to launch Beyond
Visual Line of Sight drones to send medicines
• Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ministry of Civil Aviation launched ‘Medicines from the Sky in
Vikarabad district of Telangana to send medicines to primary healthcare centres using drones.
• With this Telangana became the first Indian state to use drones for Beyond Visual Line of Sight to
deliver the payload.
• MFTS is an initiative of the Government of Telangana led by the emerging technologies wing of
Telangana’s IT Department in association with World Economic Forum (WEF), NITI (National
Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, and HealthNet Global (Apollo Hospitals).
• The first delivery was carried out by a Delhi-based drone delivery tech firm Skye Air Mobility for its
Consortium partner Blue Dart Express. It delivered a 5-kg box of vaccines from Vikarabad District
hospital to a community health centre which was three kilometres away in ten minutes.

Chhattisgarh CM Launches ‘Millet Mission’
• The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel launched the Millet Mission.
• He signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Institute of Millet Research Hyderabad and the
Collectors of 14 districts of the state. The mission will provide affordable accurate prices to farmers for small
cereal crops and input assistance, procurement arrangements will also be provided.

• Seed banks for small grain crops would be established in Bastar, Surguja, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon.
• After processing, these crops will be used in schemes like midday meals, public distribution systems and
nutrition programmes
• Women of self-help groups engaged in collection and processing work have been provided employment for
more than 850 days.

India’s largest Open-Air Fernery in Ranikhet
• India’s largest Open-air Fernery, consisting 120 different varieties of ferns, was inaugurated in
Ranikhet, Uttrakhand.
• The fernery has the largest collection of fern species, second to only Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical
Botanical Garden and Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
• Ferns are non-flowering pteridophytes.They belong to one of the ancient groups of plants that
propagate through spores.
• They are the first plants to have a fully developed vascular system.
• They help in filtering heavy metals from polluted water and the nitrogen fixation process.

started by a Swiss startup Climeworks AG in partnership with Icelandic carbon

• A team of researchers discovered a new island, the northernmost point of land on Earth, off the
coast of Greenland during a Danish-Swiss research expedition.
• The island was discovered by a group of 6 scientists, working with the Arctic Station research
facility in Greenland, who set out to collect the samples from Oodaaq island, which was
discovered by a Danish survey group in 1978.
• The researchers proposed to name the island “Qeqertaq Avannarleq”, which means ‘the
northernmost island’ in Greenlandic.
• The newly discovered island measuring around 30 by 60 metres in size is the closest point of land
to the North pole.
