5. A. battery B. bullet (US) C. convenient D. vehicle
III.READING
A. Read the article and fill in the blanks with NO MORE than three words.
In the future, there will be many new means of transportation. People may travel by flying cars or
hot air balloons. However, at the present, a company is designing an electronic train. This train
will have very little emission because it runs on solar energy. It uses solar panel windows to
generate electricity, so it can help the environment. This electronic train can carry up to 10, 000
passengers, and it will be able to travel a distance of 600 kilometers in one hour. The price is 300
dollars for three people, not as cheap as a tram, but people can travel to different places faster.
B. Read the article and decide which sentence is True (T), False (F) or Not Given (NG).
Matt: I think we should travel by bike because it has many advantages. First, it does not produce
emissions, so it is better for the environment than travelling by motorbike. Second, people can
keep fit if they go cycling regularly. Riding a bike in one hour burns more calories than driving a
car or sitting on a train. However, bikes are not as fast as taxis and buses. It can only travel at 10-
20 kilometers per hour, but a taxi can travel at more than 80 kilometers in an hour. People will get
exhausted if they cycle for a long time.
Phuong: In the future, I hope I can go to school by underground because it has many advantages.
First, the underground is very convenient. It usually travels at 120 km/h, so it is faster than a bus
and motorcycle. Second, it is cheaper than travelling by motorbike. An underground ticket costs
less than 15,000 VND. If you go to school by motorbike, you will need about 100,000 VND to
pay for petrol every month. Finally, if more people use the underground, we can reduce traffic
jams in big cities. An underground can carry as many as 600 passengers, so I think there will be
fewer traffic congestions during rush hours if we use the underground to travel.

III. READING
A. Read the article and fill in the blanks with NO MORE than three words.
B. Read the article and decide which sentence is True (T), False (F) or Not Given (NG).
A. Listen to the conversation between Mai and Vinh and choose the correct answer A, B,
C, or D.
Vinh: Hello Mai, will you go to the technology center tomorrow? There will be a car exhibition in
the morning and in the afternoon.
Mai: Yes, I will. I’m so excited to see the new electronic bus. Are you going to come?
Vinh: Of course, but I’m into flying car models. I wonder how a flying car is different from a
normal car.
Mai: As far as I know, a normal car is not as fast as a flying car. A flying car will not use a petrol
engine, but it uses jet engines. It needs more space to take off because it is even bigger than a bus!
Vinh: You’re right. I saw some flying cars on TV yesterday. Some cars have propellers and they
can take off and land from the driveway. They look like a helicopter.
Mai: Really? I’m so excited now. If we have flying cars, there will be fewer traffic jams on the
streets. People will not be stuck in the traffic congestion because they are all flying in the sky!
Vinh: I don’t know, but I hope so. I think we should use more public transport, like the electronic
bus. We can save money, and we will be able to protect the environment.
