Alarm Detection Point
Alarm Detection Point
It enables the information to send from the NE transmitting port and to receive by the receiving
port through the Loopback test to the optical channel. It identify the NE faulty points by levels
and test the nodes and transmission lines working status under the condition the communication
links which are separated.
Alarm Summary
The following are alarms types classified on the severity level.
Critical alarm
Major alarm
Minor alarm
Warning alarm
1. Critical -This refers to the alarms generated when the traffic interrupts and immediate
troubleshooting is required.
2. Major - This refers to the alarms generated when the traffic gets affected and
immediate troubleshooting is required.
3. Minor- This refers to the alarms generated when the fault does not affect current
traffic, but troubleshooting is required to avoid the week signal transmission.
4. Warning-This refers to the alarms generated when the fault does not affect the current
traffic, but possibly it will do in the future.
Alarm Type
The alarm types involve are:
Communication alarm
QOS alarm
Equipment alarm
Processing error alarm
Environmental alarm.
1. Communication alarm - This refers to the alarms related to transmission status, such as
signal loss, frame loss, defect indication, signal degradation, and alarms related to LAN
or communication protocols.
2. Quality of Service alarm - The QOS alarm reflects the transmission performance,
such as response time too long, over-threshold, performance deterioration, etc.
3. Equipment alarm - An equipment alarms relates to equipment hardware, such as
power supply fault, timing port fault, processor fault, transmission/reception fault, and
other equipment components faults.
4. Processing error alarm -It refers to the software-related alarm, such as storage
capacity problem, memory overflow, version mismatch, software error, illegal program
interruption, system-related or NE configuration error, and NE inaccessible.
