HYGARD PLUG
Cement Plugs to Seal High-Pressure Leaks
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
HYGARD PLUG is a low viscous liquid which is mixed with fresh cement to form quick-setting cement plugs that instantly hardens
even against water flowing under pressure. The compound contains reactive chemical salts which accelerate the setting and
hardening of cement plugs, which will not be washed out, or deteriorate under pressure.
HYGARD PLUG is used to instantly plug pressure leakage or burst in below grade constructions, such as lift wells, tanks, sewers,
cisterns, cofferdams, tunnels, mines, etc., anchoring rock bolts in mining and tunneling operations.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Add one part by volume of HYGARD PLUG to two (2) parts by volume of fresh portland cement. Mix quickly. As the mortar begins
to stiffen, scoop out by hand, ram into prepared hole, and hold firmly until hard set. Due to the rapid setting characteristics
of the material, only prepare a quantity of the mixture which can be placed within the prescribed set time of 20 seconds. It is
important to use only fresh, non-lumpy Portland cement.
Surface Preparation
Before mixing, V-cut the area around the leak to give a firm, clean hole of no less than 1”.
Application
Plug small leaks first. Holes up to 1-1/2” can be sealed with a single plug. Large holes should be reduced by building up the
sides and letting the mortar set before ramming in the final plug.
After running water has been stopped, the plugged areas should be plastered with mortar containing HYGARD PLUG to seal any
seepage or dampness.
