1.5 FET Amplifier

The document discusses the common source field effect transistor (FET) amplifier. It describes the components of the circuit including resistors R1 and R2 for voltage divider bias, resistor Rs for negative feedback and stability, capacitors Cs, Cc1, and Cc2 for coupling and bypassing signals. The FET transistor Q provides gain. When an AC input Vin is applied to the gate, it causes changes in drain current ID and produces an amplified output voltage Vo. The amplifier has high input impedance, low noise, and provides voltage gain described by the equation Av=-gmRd. However, it also has poor driving capability and nonlinear output. Common applications include very low level signal amplification.

Common Source FET Amplifier

 Cs :- Source Bypass Capacitor

1. Bypasses AC signal from source terminal to
ground.
2. Helps to keep Q point and gain of
amplifier constant
 (Passes AC Blocks DC at Source)
 Cc1 :- Coupling Capacitor 1
1. It passes ac signal from input to the Gate
of transistor.
2. It blocks dc signal from input to the Gate
of transistor.
3. It blocks DC signal of supply from reaching
to the Function Generator at the input.

Working of CS FET Amplifier

1. When AC input voltage (Vin) is given to

the gate of JFET then gate to source
biasing voltage changes continuously.

2. This produces change in drain current Id

ID changes sinusoidally due to which
