· What is the Better World Initiative (GSIF)?

Better World Initiative(GSIF) is a CSR initiative launched in 2016 by Genpact. It is a unique social
transformation program in partnership with Kaivalya Education Foundation, which is designed to deliver
strategic and long-term meaningful programs in the social sector by offering process excellence support
to non-profits in India and empowering them to achieve organizational goals.

BWI has been working to address challenges across 5 sectors including Education, Skill development,
Women empowerment, Livelihood and Health.

Vision: Solve India’s social problems at scale by leveraging Genpact’s core expertise of process
reengineering using Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and design thinking (DT)

Mission: Enable digitization at scale for Non-Profit organizations, so that they effectively engage and
transform processes.

· What is the track record of BWI so far?

The BWI has been launched in 2016 and from then it has impacted

- More than 95 Non-profit organizations across India

- Successfully improved 137 Social projects

- Impacted more than 22 Million lives

· What is DIY - Do it Yourself Model?

▪ These 4 to 6 months engagement model empowers not-for-profits via skill transference on process re-
engineering methodology of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Design Thinking (DT), these tools are
contextualized for social sector

▪ The NPO nominated resource person will be required to set aside ~15 to 20 hrs. per week for this
engagement

▪ During this timeframe they will also get an opportunity for application of the training in a real-life
scenario, in solving their organizational challenges in the specified function

▪ Throughout their project journey they will receive mentorship and guidance from BWI Consultant for
successful completion of the project and network with other NPO resource persons

· How long is the commitment for the fellowship?

The duration ranges from 4 to 6 months


· What are the benefits of BWI for an NGO?

- Get associated with Genpact brand and leverage the Project management, Process management
learnings in your Projects or Organizations

- Design a robust monitoring and implementation plans for your organization/projects with support
for excel based automation support where required

- Co-create efficient and sustainable solutions with effective use of Lean Six Sigma and design
thinking methodologies

· What are the prerequisites for applicants (NGO’s)?

- NPO to share their Organizational details, problem statement via BWI DIY application form

- Typical duration of engagement will be 4 to 6 months, NPO needs to adhere to the project plan
jointly developed at start of the project, projects need to be completed within the agreed timeline
without extensions

- Availability of adequate funds for developing and sustaining process improvements, solutions
identified as part of project jointly with BWI team

- Commitment to report to BWI for 3 years (post project completion) on agreed end beneficiary
impact

- DIY will be a 100% virtual engagement (using Zoom, MS Teams)

· What are the expectations from the NGO’s?

- Identification of one resource(nominated SPOC) for engagement, preferably from relevant domain
and is able to read, write and speak in English

- Nominated SPOC must be willing to undergo mandatory trainings for LSS and DT tools

- Commit to contribute ~15-20 hrs weekly for 4 to 6 months project duration

- NPO project team to have identified project Champion and Sponsor who will provide required
support and strategic inputs on the project, provide required resources and will actively engage
through its lifecycle

- Adherence to project milestones and deliverables

§ What will I/my NGO learn in this process?

BWI offers following where DIY model framework can be applied in different domains for driving
standardization and efficiency -

▪ Management Information System (MIS) - supports with best-in-class MIS design and practices that
can be replicated across NPO’s programs to measure program output and outcomes to strengthen NPO's
reporting to various stakeholders and aligning their work with their vision and mission

▪ Data Management – supports efficient and effective function related data visibility, reporting and
forecasting e.g. fund utilization, process evaluation, supply chain (procurement, distribution, demand
assessment) inventory management, etc.
▪ Information Management – supports accessibility of data and information and its structured
distribution to program stakeholders e.g. learning management, knowledge management etc.

**Additionally, wherever applicable and identified, excel based automation support will be provided for
data collection, consolidation and reporting

· How do I apply?

Applications must be sent by 28th February at 11:59 PM (IST).

· What is the selection process?

The selection of fellows will be done by the BWI Team. Filling the entire application form

i. Only forms that are duly filled out along with supporting mandatory documents will be
considered

ii. BWI works with partners from education, health, livelihood/skills, women empowerment
domains

iii. The organization should have completed 3 years of operation
