Kalai Halder Vs Sheikh

Kalai Halder sued Sheikh for the price of unconsumed food after Sheikh failed to attend a dinner he had accepted an invitation to. The court ruled that an invitation to dinner is a social obligation, not a legal one, so Kalai could not claim compensation. The key lesson is that a proposal must be intended to create a legal obligation in order for compensation to be levied.
