There are many differences in the subject of sports between the US and Malawi in terms
of scales. For example, the number of major sports events is different as shown in Figure 1.
There are 10 major sports events in the US, such as the Super Bowl, US Open tennis, MLB All-
Star Games, and NBA All-Star Game. However, there are only 4 major sports events in Malawi,
which are Manda Wilderness Dug-Out Canoe Race, Luwawa International Mount Bike
Marathon, Lake Malawi Sailing Marathon, and Mulanje Porters Race. Comparatively speaking,
the US organizes more basketball events compared to Malawi, where more marathon events
are held. To sum up, the US organizes more variety of sports events. (115 words)
In contrast, there are only a few similarities in sports between the US and Malawi. Both
countries joined Tokyo Olympics 2021 although it is obvious that the US team is much bigger
than the Malawi team, and both countries have participated in Archery and Athletics. There is
also a similarity in the top 3 national sports as shown in Table 1 Although it shows different
types of sports in the table, they are all team sports. Another similarity is in the perception of
sports as both countries take sports as a way to promote social integration. In conclusion, both
countries have Olympic athletes, like team sports and use sports to improve sociality. (112
