Online games are becoming more and more popular

these days.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of online
games?

In recent years, online games have increased in


popularity due to the widespread availability of high-
speed Internet and easy access to game software.

-There are both advantages and disadvantages of online


games
-Although / While there are certain benefits associated
with online gaming, there are also several drawbacks
that must be taken into account.

To begin with the positives, one of the main advantages


of computer-based games is the social aspect it provides.
They establish peer interaction among players, which
helps them to connect with each other and build
friendships based on shared interests. This also provides
opportunities for teamwork and collaboration that can
have positive impacts on communication skills and
problem-solving abilities. Another benefit is the potential
for education benefits. Some games require players to
use critical thinking and logic, thereby imoproving their
cognitive function and enhancing memory. Additionally,
some games are designed to teach specific subjects or
skills, such as language, history, and science.
However / On the other hand, online gaming also has its
negatives, one of which is the possibility of developing
addiction. Players usually have to pass levels and do
certain exercises in order to receive awards and points,
which in turn release addictive hormones of dopamine.
Due to this immersive nature , individuals can feel so
isolated that they neglect other important aspects of
their lives, namely school, work, or relationships. In
addition, they also may expose players to inappropriate
content. Some games may contain violent or sexually
excplicit material, and , consequently, foster self-
objectification, damaging their psychological
development.
In conclusion, despite certain positive sides of improved
networking and cognitive development that online
games offer, there are also some negatives , namely
addictive behaviour and unsuitable content brought by
them that should not be ignored.
