Week 13-14

This is a group project.

 Every group consists of 5-6 people (according to the class size).
 Use Chapter 1 to Chapter 6 as references to prepare your script.
*each chapter will have a learning focus. Use that as a reference.
 Every student needs to have at least 12 – 15 sentences in the whole role-play script. (Maximum
sentences: 17-18 sentences.)
*please indicate the number of lines that each member has in the script (refer to the sample of cover page)
*the sentence count is based on a full sentence (subject+predicate)
How to calculate the total number of sentences for each student:
Example:
 For TMC401:
Nǐ hǎo! = (greetings) can be counted as one sentence.
Búshì. = short phrases like this cannot be counted as one complete sentence.
 For TMC451 and TMC501 (need to be a complete sentence)
Nǐ yào qù nǎlǐ? = counted as 1 sentence. (Subject + predicate)
How to evaluate:
A. Script writing (group evaluation)
 Each script will be evaluated based on:
a. content and grammar (Learning Outcome)
b. creativity
c. effectiveness of work (format, submission on time)
- please try to insert tone marks for the pinyin (so that you know how to pronounce the words)
- please attach translations for the sentences so that laoshi can understand the content better (especially
when laoshi need to edit your sentences to make your content clearer in Huáyǔ)
- please indicate who is the speaker of the sentences
 please save in WORD or PDF format

Sample:
zài jiàoshì lǐ
In the classroom:
Aiman: Nǐ hǎo! Wǒ shì Aiman.
Aiman: Hello! I am Aiman.
Lina: Nǐ hǎo, Aiman. Qǐng jìn lái.
Lina: Hello, Aiman. Please come in.

*This is just a sample, you can present your script in another way, but the most important thing is
the content is clear and understandable.
Please make sure you have checked through the script before you submit to laoshi. As the submission will
be considered as the final submission for script and it will be evaluated.
Please AVOID:
1. Spelling error
2. Using Google translation or other translation apps to build a sentence
3. Asking laoshi to fill in the blanks for you
Please try to:
1. include the focus of ALL chapters’ content
Example:
TMC401-Chapter 1 is about greeting and introduction oneself and friends, so you should include
greetings and introduction of oneself and friend in your script. Chapter 5 is about activities during
free time, so you will create a scenario with activities in your script.
TMC451-Chapter 1 is about making an appointment with a friend and being late for the
appointment
2. Use the vocabularies that you have learned from the textbook
3. You can use vocabularies or sentences from level 1 & 2 (for TMC501), level 1 (for TMC451), but please
be mindful of the percentage of usage. Focus more on the current level.
How to submit script:
 submit the script on Ufuture- idiscuss-Assignment -Role Play Script submission
 Laoshi will send the feedback script via email. Please indicate the email on the cover page where
you wish to receive the feedback script.
