TO SECTION 1

SERVICE INFORMATION

1.1 Preface

General information

Annex must be attached to the FOM of the Mi-8 helicopter (Edition 4) when the on-board recorder СДК-
8 is installed on the helicopter. When flying on the Mi-8 helicopter with an installed СДК -8, be guided
by the flight manual of the Mi-8 helicopter and this Annex, which reflects a brief description of the
installed equipment (as opposed to the serial number) and features of its flight operation.

In terms of general flight restrictions, flight characteristics, tactical and technical data and fuel
consumption characteristics, the Mi-8 helicopter with the installed СДК-8 does not differ from the serial
Mi-8 helicopter.

Chapters and their subsections of Annex correspond to the Chapters and subsections of the FOM.

Chapters 2,4,5,6,8 and 9 of the FOM have no additional information.

In connection with the installation on the СДК-8 helicopter, a new subsection 7.21.4 was added to
Chapter 7 in the Annex.

TO SECTION 3

PREPARING FOR FLIGHT

3.1 Flight calculation

Calculate the flight in accordance with the instructions of subsection 3.1 of the FOM of the Mi-8
helicopter.

The installed СДК-8 does not deteriorate the characteristics of the base helicopter, including the limiting
alignments do not go beyond the established limits.

3.2 Technical preparation for the flight.

General instructions

Technical preparation of the helicopter shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of
subsection 3.2 of the FOM of the Mi-8 helicopter, taking into account the specifics of preparation of the
СДК-8 installed on the helicopter, set forth in Chapter 7 of this Annex.

OPERATION OF SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT

To subsection 7.21. Recording devices

7.21.4. Onboard recorder СДК-8

7.21.4.1. Brief description

The onboard digital system for registering flight parameters СДК-8 is designed to receive, register and
store parametric information in a solid-state storage device, as well as to issue this information to a
ground-based system for processing useful information.

The system consists of two main subsystems, airborne and ground.

The onboard system includes:

- parameter transformation unit (БПП);

- parameter registration unit (БРП);

- information accumulation unit (БНИ);

-heat-protective container;

-signal sensors

The processing of the accumulated information is carried out by a ground subsystem based on a
personal computer for the purpose of the technical condition of individual systems of the helicopter and
its equipment, control over the actions of the crew during the execution of the flight mission and
objective determination of the causes of accidents and incidents.
ANNEX TO THE Mi-8 MTV-1 HELICOPTER AIRCRAFT FLIGHT MANUAL

The system registers 13 analog parameters and one-time commands:

A) Analog parameters:

Altitude (barometric);

Speed (instrumental);

Pitch angle;

Main rotor revolutions;

Roll angle;

General pitch of the main rotor;

Temperature of gases in front of the turbine of the compressor of the left engine;

Temperature of gases in front of the turbine of the compressor of the right engine;

Turns of the turbocharger of the left engine;

Turns of the turbocharger of the right engine;

Swashplate position longitudinal;

Heading angle;

Geometric height;

Analog parameters sampling frequency - 4Hz

One-time commands:

Failure of the main hydraulic system;

Failure of the redundant hydraulic system

Fire (general)

Emergency fuel balance;

Turning on the anti-ice system of the right engine;

Drop in oil pressure of the main gearbox;

Turning on the anti-ice system of left engine ;

The pumps are not working;

Left engine vibration;

Right engine vibration;

Drop in oil pressure of the left engine;

Drop in oil pressure of the right engine;

Frequency of polling of one-time commands - 1Hz;

Time of stored information - for the last 25 hours of recording.

The recorder is powered by a constant current of 27V from the battery bus. The power supply circuit is
protected through the circuit breaker of the СДК.

The system is switched on by the helicopter commander or, at his command, by the flight mechanic
after turning on the power supply in preparation for starting the engines, and turning it off after the
engines have completely stopped.

Note! Until the completion of work to confirm the fulfillment of the requirements for emergency
recorders, it is allowed to use the СДК -8 on Mi-8 helicopters and their modifications that do not
perform regular commercial transportation.

With positive results of work confirming the fulfillment of the requirements for emergency recorders on
civil aviation helicopters by the СДК -8 system, allow the Mi-8 helicopters and their modifications
equipped with the СДК -8 system for regular commercial transportation.

7.21.4.2. Lighting up and operation

The system can be activated either in manual or automatic way.

For manual activation there is a switch САРПП РУЧН-АВТ, which is installed on the right sideplate of the
upper electropanel. The recording unit is automatically activated despite of switch position САРПП
РУЧН-АВТ.

The recorder is automatically activated when main and backup hydraulic system is pressured. It is
duplicated when limit switch is activated on the left shock absorber strut of the main landing gear after
flying-off. On the ground, there is no pressure on the main and backup hydraulic systems it is necessary
to set switch САРПП РУЧН-АВТ to position РУЧН for an electric supply of the registration unit.

Note! While flying automatic and manual activation of the recorder should be duplicated, consequently
switch РУЧН-АВТ must be in position РУЧН for the rest of the flight.

Proper functioning of the system is monitored in accordance to the flashing board САРПП, which is
green. It is situated on the right sideplate of the upper electropanel.

7.21.4.3. Performance data

The operation of the recorder is maintained at an outside air temperature from minus 60 to 60 ̊C

Ready-to-operate time after switching on at outdoor temperature:

- from minus 40 to 60°C - no more than 30 seconds;

-from minus 60 to minus 40 °C - no more than 15 minutes

Preservation of the recorded information is provided at a single impact with an acceleration of 3400g.

Water resistance of the memory cassette at a depth of 6000m - 24 hours.

Heat resistance of a memory cassette at temperatures up to 1100 °C - 30 minutes.

Time of uninterrupted operation- not less than 9 hours

Note! The engine start and helicopter flights are prohibited when the recording unit does not function
properly.

7.21.4.4. Normal operations

Conditions (stage) of working Necessary actions

Lightning, preparation for the flight After powerup, switch the recorder on for
following purposes:

- activate a circuit breaker (АЗС СДК)

- set up a switch РУЧН – АВТ in position

РУЧН
Flight operation
By flasing a board САРПП РАБОТАЕТ make sure
that the recorder is in working order.

Control the working order of the recorder by

flasing the board САРПП РАБОТАЕТ.

- After a complete stop of the engine set

lighting off up a switch РУЧН-АБТ in position АВТ
and switch the circuit breaker (АЗС СДК)
off.

7.21.4.5. Disfunctions

occurrence of the disfunctions Necessary actions

The board САРПП РАБОТАЕТ doesn’t flash when On the ground

the recorder is on. - It is prohibited to start an engine up and takeoff
operation

-The helicopter commander decides to continue

the mission;

- The second pilot has to record the time of

failure of the recording unit in the flight logbook;

- The flight engineer has to record engine unit

parameters and remaining fuel each 20…30
minutes of flight using the cockpit voice recorder
П-503Б and МС-61.
