Part Two HRSG Overview
Part Two HRSG Overview
LP Superheater Outlet: This is the outlet where the superheated low-pressure steam leaves the
LP superheater and enters the steam turbine.
DA Preheater (Deaerator Preheater): The DA preheater is a heat exchanger that preheats the
deaerated feedwater before it enters the HRSG. Deaerated feedwater is water that has had its
dissolved oxygen and other non-condensable gases removed to prevent corrosion in the
HRSG and steam turbine.
HP Steam Drum (High-Pressure Steam Drum): The HP steam drum is a critical component
that separates water and steam in the HRSG. It allows steam to rise to the top, where it is
extracted for further use, while water is recirculated back for reheating.
LP Silencer (Low-Pressure Silencer): Similar to the HP silencer, the LP silencer reduces the
noise produced by the low-pressure steam as it exits the HRSG.
LP Steam Drum (Low-Pressure Steam Drum): The LP steam drum performs a similar
function to the HP steam drum but for the low-pressure steam generated in the HRSG.
Deaerator: The deaerator is a device that removes dissolved gases, primarily oxygen, and
carbon dioxide, from the feedwater. This prevents corrosion in the HRSG and other parts of
the steam cycle.
Stack: The stack is the exhaust outlet through which the remaining flue gases, after heat
recovery, are discharged into the atmosphere.
