Dear Josephine,
Thank you for your lovely birthday card. How are you and your family? As
for me, everyone at home is happy but busy. My uncle, aunty and cousins are staying
with us for a week so it is a flurry of activities every day.
With regards to your email last week, you mentioned that you would like to
prepare breakfast for your relatives. Yes, I agree that boiling eggs is simple, but it can
be tricky too. It is a good thing that there are some tips that can help us.
Cooking time is important, depending on what type of eggs you want to
prepare. Boil the eggs for ten minutes if you want them hard-boiled. If you want
them soft-boiled but served withourt their shell, then three minutes is all the time you
need.
The next thing you need to know is how to boil them. First, boil some water.
Just before it starts boiling, put the eggs into the pot gently. Then, cook according to
how you want the eggs prepared. After that, remove the eggs and put them in iced
water for five minutes to stop the cooking process.
There is another point you need to remember when cooking eggs. Sometimes,
the eggs crack while boiling. To stop this from happening, make sure that they are at
room temperature when you cook them. Take them out of the refrigerator 15 minutes
before cooking. You could also add a tablespoon of vinegar and/or a teaspoon of salt
into the boiling water. This helps seal any potential cracks.
Finally, you should also use good-sized pot to prevent the eggs from rolling
too much in the water. You should only put one layer of eggs in the pot.
