Invitation letter

Тhe residence program of the Cultural Center from Sabac (Serbia), is implemented for several
years with the support of our institution. More precisely, the program started in 2014, when our
institution hired young artists from Serbia, to create several murals in Sabac. Next year, we hired
young talented sculptors from our city, who worked together for several days, and at the end of the
program, as a result, they made sculptures, that were placed in the public area of the city. In 2017
our guest was a Slovenian sculptor, Rok Bogataj, who was a guest of the Cultural Center for two
weeks. During that time, he got to know Sabac, he held several lectures to pupils from Applied
Arts School (secondary school) from our city. Finally, last year, we hosted Marko Crnobrnja, young
talented sculptor from Obrenovac, town close to Sabac. After a few weeks of hard work, he made a
very interesting sculpture, which is called ,,bicycler”. Residence program of the Cultural Center
from Sabac, produced 7 murals and 6 sculptures for these four years.
Artists who created in our city in the last four years, besides getting to know our city better,
also left their work here. During their work in our city, many companies decided to help the artists
… they gave the material (stone, iron), transport machines etc. Pupils from Applied Arts School
had the opportunity to gain new knowledge.
For 2019 we propose that we establish cooperation which will lead to the introduction of
young artists from our city to your young artists. We suggest that they should be muralists, who
could work together on two murals, one in Sabac, and the other at the location you specify. At the
same time we could organize additional programs, exhibitions or lectures on social topics.
Funds have been prepared for these purposes, in the budget of the Cultural Center for 2019 .
We are open for all types of cooperation, as well as for the modification of the proposed
project, activities, etc. Certainly, establishing close cooperation can set a good basis for further
contacts and cooperation in relation to European funds. Implementation of the proposed activities,
would get an opportunity for artists to show their talent, get acquainted, leave their artwork in the
public space, present their work to ordinary citizens.

Sincerely,

Sonja Petrovic Jagic,

director
