❖ Earning the Basic Certificate in Quality and

INTRODUCTION Safety boosts your knowledge and skills — and


proves to employers you’re serious about
changing health care for the better.

❖ The IHI Open School brings you essential training


and tools in an online, educational community to
help you and your team deliver excellent, safe
care. These courses help in building core skills in
improvement, safety, and leadership.

❖ At the end of every lesson, you will need to pass


a post-lesson assessment by scoring 80 percent
or higher. Don’t worry: You may continue to
retake the lesson until you are satisfied with your
score.

❖ Once you have completed all the lessons in a


course, you will receive credit for the course
upon submission of a short survey.

❖ To receive the Certificate, you must complete the


following 13 Open School courses:
➢ QI 101–Q105, PS 101–105, TA 101, PFC 101,
and L 101.
HOW TO ACCESS?
1) Log on to: education.ihi.org

2) Click → Log in

*Please create an account with IHI

3) Once you are logged in, go to “Browse Catalog.”

4) On the top of the page there will be a spot to enter your Access code: 66494

Once you see a green bar on the top of the screen acknowledging your successful input of a valid code, all the
open school courses available to you will say “Enroll.”
Note: Please input your access code before attempting to enroll in a course. If you enroll in a course (such as a
free sample course) before entering the access code, that course will not appear on your organization's reports.
HOW TO ACCESS?
5) After entering the Access Code, search the following Module List and click “Enroll”

6) After enrolling in a course, return to your Learning Center and click "launch" to begin the course

7) Enjoy your learning journey!


Log-in to your
account and follow
the steps
Click “Print certificate…”

Click “Claim Credits”


To claim credits for individual modules; follow the guide below:

4. Click “Submit”
5) Once you have navigated to the Certificate Center, scroll down until you
find the "Open School Basic Certificate English". Please note that the
name of the certificate changed during the platform upgrade and the
"Open School Basic Certificate English" is the same as the "Basic Certificate
in Quality and Safety"

6) To create a printable/downloadable certificate click on the "Credit


Type".

7) On the following screen, click the button just above your certificate
to download a PDF of your certificate.
