I. RATIONALE :

The implementation of Brigada Ekwela as specified in the Dep-Ed

Memorandum No. 032, s. 2020 , is the National Schools Maintenance Week that
aims to bring together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute
their time , effort and resources to prepare public school facilities for the opening
of the school year in June.

The Brigada Eskwela Program is one of the most important programs in

Dep-Ed . The spirit of bayanihan , private institutions / individuals , government
agencies , local government units and other organizations contribute to Dep-Ed
campaign to ensure accessible and quality basic education .

The success of its implementation lies in the collaborative effort of private

and local governments through the initiative of the school heads. They are given
the opportunity to contribute the resources in kind or in service. By being a
volunteer in Brigada Ekwela , no effort is too small to make a difference.

II. OBJECTIVES :

Brigada Eskwela aims the following:

1. to promote the spirit of volunteerism;

2. to bring together all teachers and school officials, learners and their parents,
alumni, community leaders, members of the non- government organizations
(NGO’s),private sectors, other government agencies and all other stakeholders to
participate and contribute their time, effort and resources to prepare public school
facilities for the opening of the school year in June;

3. to make schools ecologically conscious, resilient, clean and conducive to

learning;

4. to heighten support for school level implementation of disaster risk

reduction ;and

5. to provide guidance to schools and education partners in ensuring safety and

preparedness of our learners and personnel before, during and after emergencies.

Dep-Ed explains that one of Brigada Eskwela’s goal is to foster

understanding among all sectors of society that the education of the Filipino people
is the responsibility of everyone.

The government which provided free education for the Filipino youth , the
community where they grow, and the private sector who will eventually employ
them are all stakeholders of education. Their cooperation is significant to the
success of every student’s education.

“The National Brigada Eskwela Media / Online Kick-Off Program”

This year’s Brigada Eskwela shall focus on the following:

1. implementation of the year-round schools’ maintenance and repair

activities, which includes the provision of the immediate needs during
disaster or calamities, and the addressing of resource gaps during the
reopening of the face-to-lace classes;
2. strengthened partnership engagements with partners and stakeholders
that complement DepEd’s efforts to ensure quality basic education:
3. achievement of significant goals which shall contribute in increasing
students’ participation rate, reducing dropouts and helping improve
learning for both learners and community; and
4. creation of a network of community-based organization to get total
community commitment for collaborative programs and projects including
the Brigada Pagbasa and other support and volunteer/community-based
projects.
