Arts and Science College campus on 23 June 2023. To help the new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self exploration SIP was organized for the Department for 4 days. Com. (BPS) students was conducted at Dr. N.GP. Conference Centre at 09:30 am. Our Chairman — Dr. N.G. | - Prof. Dr. Palaniswamy, Madam Secretary — Dr. Thavamani D. Palaniswamy and Pri V. Rajendran, weleomed the students and illuminated them on how education and self discipline were important to succeed in fife and addressed them on how well the students should adopt to the rules and regulations of the college, the dress code, the way in which students should carry themselves for their betterment in life. They also spoke about how parents support the students to reach greater heights in life and about their sacrifices and also reminded the students to be loyal to their parents and reach great heights during their course period. He has elaborated on the ion, mission, objectives an fthe \d scope of the course and also gave a detailed presentation on the achievements and activities of the dey ictivities of the department under the DBT Star College scheme in various portfolios. 2. She explained about the Designing the curriculum and framing : regulations (Ré Regulations) and guidelines forall programmes inline with UGC, Coordinating the process of framing the Syllabi, mark distribution and extra credit points ete. She also gave a ; brief explanation about outcome-based education and formulating the modalities and norms to be ~ follow in the attainment of OBE. Poe Seen series ‘1st BCOM BPS CURRICULAM CEU Nex) Risser Cant) ecu The orientation on the clubs, centers and committee was given by Dr. S. Eswaramoorthi Professor, Department of Mathematics. He gave a brief introduction about the clubs, committees and centers and also explained the objectives of the club which is career enhancement, communication skills, leadership skills, social networking, social skills, personality development, organizational and management skills, build resume, long lasting friendship and more. 4. Entrepreneurship Development - Dr. M. Sampathkumar ‘The orientation on entrepreneurship development was given by Dr. M. Sampathkumar, ‘Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil. He elaborated on the importance of being an entrepreneur and also highlighted the objectives of the entrepreneurship development cell of our college, which is to motivate & encourage students having an entrepreneurship bent of mind to set up startups in the campus and provide information about startup funding to budding student entrepreneurs. Life skills and personality development - Mrs. R. Janani ‘The orientation on life skills and personality development was given by Mrs. R. Janani, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce BPS. She explained the importance of developing a good personality o the students and explained the roles of center for skill development, which is to create opportunities that enhances knowledge to move in the right career path and to combine the University education and E-Learning Technology helps to give clarity to the students to learn and win the competitive world. Day -2: Aftern 7 001 Date: 24/06/2023 i Venue: Dept. of Commerce BPS The orientation on Student Grievance, raging and sexual harassment was given by Dr. SN. Selvaraj, Associate Prof, of Management Studies. He briefed about ragging and sexual harassment and also mentioned the duties of the student grievance and ragging cell of our college, which is to create social awareness about the problems of women in general and gender discrimination in particular by means of programs like lectures, workshops and seminars. 7. Physical Activity -Mr. A. Thanasingh Physical Director ‘The orientation on Physical activity was given Mr. A. Thanasingh, Physical Director. He denoted the importance of physical activity to students in our day-to-day life and also engaged the students to perform few exercises in class and mentioned the objectives of the sports club of our college which is to identify sports talents early and nurture them, to encourage students, take regular physical exercise for a fit and healthy living. Day 3: Foren Date: 26/06/2023 oe 8. Online courses - pr. ‘amasivaya| ‘ours S. Namasiva The orientation on online courses, value added courses etc, was given by Dr. S. Namasivayam, Head of the Department, Department of Commerce BPS. He summarized the importance of value-added courses and online courses and spoke about the various platforms that offered these online courses, such as NPTEL, SWAYAM and Spoken Tutorial through which students can gain more knowledge and extra credits. 9. Examination System — Dr. J. Nithya The orientation on examination systems was given by Dr. J. Nithya, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce BPS. She briefed about the exam pattern and evaluation systems of our college Organization, CoE Officials, Autonomous, Programme and Course Code, Mark Distribution and Question paper pattern for ESE (Using Bloom's Taxonomy). She emphasized the importance of attending and scoring in the internal exams. 10.Library and Information center — Dr. K.Vishnugopal The orientation on Library and information center was given Dr. K. Vishnugopal, Assistant Professor, Department of English. He explained on the importance of using the library and the rules to be followed and highlighted the facilities of the central library which is that manages knowledge, both in print and digital formats, how to access E-Resources through National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content and CMIE Prowess. Marks will be awarded to the student based on the hours spent in the library after the working hours to inculcate the reading habits in young minds and the library timings were also mentioned. Day -3: Afternoon Date: 26/06/2023 Venue: Dept. of Commerce BPS 10. Placement - Dr. M. Sampathkumar ‘The orientation on Placements was given by Dr. M. Sampathkumar, Assistant Professor, »n and mission of the placement Department of Tamil. He briefed about the roles, objectives, cell, which is to equip students with the necessary skills to face interviews confidently by giving them sufficient training in Aptitude, Communication, GD and Presentation in order to bring overall transformation and to organize recruitment drives for our students with esteemed organizations from various fields within and outside the campus. 11. Creative arts and Culture -Mrs. R. Janani The orientation on creative arts and culture was given by Mrs. R. Janani, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce BPS, She summarized the importance of culture and arts to the students, she also stated the objectives of the cultural club which is to work with people for the well-being, to work for social justice through social development and acting to bring about social change to reduce social barriers. Day -4: Forenoon Date: 27/06/2023 Venue: Dept. of Commerce BPS 12. Research and Development ~ Dr.A.Y.Kettiramalingam The orientation on research and development was given by Dr.A.Y.Kettiramalingam, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce BPS. She mentioned that the research and development club are founded to help students gain valuable skills in research and a proactive attitude that is demonstrated by learning more about a certain field outside of lectures and classes. The clubs under the research category function under Dean- Research and development ‘and 4 clubs are registered under this category. ~ Innovation Club (inculcate a culture of science), innovation amongst the students), Science Forum (develop a general interest Research Forum (discuss recent research articles and to get innovative ideas for further research) and Journal Club (motivate students to engage in research activities). 13. Competitive exam - Dr. M. Sampathkumar ‘The orientation on competitive exams was given by Dr. M. Sampathkumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil. He summarized the goals of the center for competitive exam of our college.
