of-Force
3. Materials: Laptop, Television, PPT Presentation, HDMI cable, Visual Aids, Tray
(customized), cards, laser remote.
4. Science Concept:
1. Preliminary Activities
2. Absences are allowed only to those who have valid reasons and will
just be excused from the class. Therefore, he/she should still comply with any
missed activities.
What have you learned from the previous discussion? (The students will share their
answer)
2. Motivation
The class will be divided into 2 groups and will play the game “Wheel of Scenarios” that is
inspired by the game “Charades”. Scenarios will be pasted in the wheel and each group will
choose 3 representatives to turn the wheel. Each representative will act on 3 scenarios which
will be guessed by the group members. Every correct guess will correspond to a chance of
hitting on the bullseye board for their prizes.
● Direction
● Force
● Motion
● Gravity
At this point, present the objectives to the class. Let the class read the objectives.
Provide a brief explanation of the objectives.
3. Activity
Divide the class into three Teams. Each group must divide their group into two;
Brain; and the Body. Note that there should be one representative in each group for a
challenge. Instruct them to go to their respective groups after doing a counting, then
give the mechanics of the game.
Mechanics/Instructions:
1. The game master will present two trays in front (one of them is for the
“Brain” category and the other is for the “Body” category.)
2. There are 5 cards in each tray and these cards have corresponding
questions, phrases, pictures and points.
4. The game master will then present a challenge and the representative
of the group will do the given challenge. The first to do the challenge will pick
a card from any of the trays and will give the card according to the category of
the card. They are given 30 seconds to work with their group but not to the
whole team.
5. If the representative chose the Brain card. The Brain Group will then
give the conclusion or answer to the representative so that their answer will be
stated. But if the Representative chose the “Body” Card all the Body group
will work to demonstrate what was stated or pictured in that card.
6. If the team got the wrong answer or demonstration, the other teams
will have the chance to steal by stating the name of the representative. (Only
the representative from the group is allowed to state the name)
7. The team who accumulates the highest number of points will be the
winner.
4. Discussion
Nature of forces refers to the fundamental characteristics and properties of forces in the
physical world. Forces are interactions between objects that can cause changes in their
motion or shape. Here are some key aspects of the nature of forces:
Origin: Forces arise from various sources. They can originate from direct contact
between objects, such as when you push a door or kick a ball. These are contact
forces. Alternatively, forces can act at a distance without any physical contact, such as
gravitational forces or electromagnetic forces.
Cause: Forces are caused by the interaction of one object with another. For example,
when you push a box, the force exerted by your hand on the box causes it to move.
Forces always involve at least two objects, and they exist as pairs known as action-
reaction pairs. According to Newton's third law of motion, for every action force,
there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
Magnitude: The magnitude of a force determines its strength or intensity. Forces can
be measured in units such as newtons (N) or pounds (lb). The magnitude of a force
depends on various factors, including the mass of the objects involved and the
distance between them. For example, the force of gravity between two objects
depends on their masses and the distance separating them.
Direction: Forces have a specific direction in which they act. This direction can be
represented using vectors, which indicate both magnitude and direction. Forces can be
applied in a straight line, at an angle, or in multiple directions simultaneously. The
direction of a force determines how it affects the motion of an object.
Effects: Forces can produce different effects on objects. They can cause objects to
accelerate (change in speed or direction), decelerate (slow down), or maintain a state
of motion (if the forces acting on an object are balanced). Forces can also cause
objects to deform or change shape, such as when a stretching force is applied to a
spring.
Types of Forces: There are various types of forces that exist in nature. Some
common types include gravitational forces, electromagnetic forces (including
electrical and magnetic forces), frictional forces, normal forces, tension forces, and
applied forces. Each type of force has specific characteristics and properties.
Why do you think that there’s a need to study the nature of forces? (Students will
share their thoughts to the class)
6. Assignment
Choose one from the six aspects of the nature of forces and justify why it needs to be
studied.
Write your answer on a short bond paper and submit it next meeting before the
discussion starts.
