Language Features of Recount Text
As you know before, Recount text is a text that tells the reader about one
story, action or activity. Its goal is to entertaining or informing the reader.
Basically Recount text is the text that tell about experiences or events that a
person has experienced in the past. That means The language features of
recount text is use ‘simple past tense’ (we, went, I saw, we visited, etc.)
The Language features of Recount text using the ‘Adverb’. So, let’s learn about
the Adverb first.
1. Adverb.
Adverb is a ‘word’ that describes or gives more information about a
verb, adjective, adverb, or phrase.Adverb can modify complate
sentence. However, its main purpose is to modify a verb, another
adverb, or an adjective.
EX:
In the sentence ‘she ran quickly’, the adverb ‘quickly’ modifies
the verb ‘ran’,
In the sentence ‘she smiled cheerfully’, the word ‘cheerfully’ is
adverb
In the sentence ‘ he waithed right outside the door’ which word

In English, adverbs are usually formed by adding 'ly' to the end of an
adjective. These are some examples for you,
- I thought the movie ended abruptly.
- The beautifully painted landscape is a wonderful addition to
my living room decor.
- Grandma's crystal vase is a priceless antique that must be
handled delicately.
- Her outfit showcased her delightfully quirky personality.
- The teacher firmly disciplined the students for their

- Quickly finish the grocery shopping so we can get to the party
in time.
- At the end of a long day, she wearily headed to bed.

vegetables.
2. Conjunction
Conjunction is a word that connects or joins clauses, words, phrases
together in a sentence. Conjunctions are used to coordinate words in a
sentence. “but”, “although”, “while” are some common conjunctions
A sentences can have more than one conjunction. The conjunction can
either be a single word or a group of word known as compound
conjunction. Ex of single word conjunction: but, and, because, yet,
unless, etc. ex of compound conjunction: as long as, as well as, in order
to, even if, so that,etc.
3. Pronoun
Pronouns are words that are substituted for nouns or noun
phrases. It is employed to prevent the noun from being repeated.
Pronouns must match the number and gender of the noun. Examples
of pronouns: she, he, it, they, them, etc.
1. Possessive Adjective
Possessive adjective is an adjective word that describes the
possession of a noun or pronoun. Words that include possessive
adjective are my, your, his, her, its, our, their, and whose.
Example sentence: Your flower is beautiful
2. Descriptive Adjective
Descriptive adjective is an adjective that describes the condition of
the described noun. Its function is to describe existing nouns,
descriptive adjectives can also be used on all types of nouns, be it
singular, or plural.
This descriptive adjective is placed before the noun to be described.
- Character = friendly, kind, angry, honest, wise, humble
- Quality = expensive, delicious, cheap, famous, unique
- Size = big, small, long, tall, fat, slim, thin
- Age = young, old, new, ancient, antique
- Temperature = hot, warm, cold, fresh, dry, wet
- Shape = square, circular, triangular, round
- Colour = white, red, yellow, blue, black
Example sentence :
o He’s wearing grey pants.
o I have an antique watch.
3. Quantitative Adjective
Quantitative adjective is what describes the number of objects. Some
of the words used in the adjective quantitave are: a little, a few, few,
any, several, some, a lot of, many, much, plenty of, a great many, etc.
Example sentence :
o She needs a little sugar.
o I have some problem.
o He doesn’t drink much coffee.
4. Demonstratitve Adjective
Demonstrative adjective is a word used to denote the specific
position of a noun or pronoun. The most frequently used words are
this, that, these, and those.
This and these refer to an object or person who is close to existence.
Meanwhile, that and those refer to an object or someone who is far
away from existence.
This and that are used to describe singular nouns. Meanwhile, these
and those are used for plural nouns.
Example sentence :
o I found this book in the library.
o That girl is my classmate.
o He used these products.
o Those shoes are no longer fit for my feet.
5. Interrogative Adjective
Interrogative adjective is used to ask about a thing related to a noun
or pronoun. The words of the interrogative adjective are what,
which, and whose.
Example sentences:
What color of the bag do you like?
5. Noun.
A noun is a part of speech that names a person, place, thing,
idea, action, or quality. But choosing the correct noun can
sometimes be trickier than it seems. Take a look at several
noun examples to learn more about writing and
communicating clearly.
EX:
o I live in Australia.
o Jenny is my sister.
o I love to play with my dog.
o The name of this monkey is Boo.
Pacific Ocean is very vast.
6. Action verb.
An action verb is a verb that expresses something that a person,
animal, object, or process in nature (such as a storm) can do rather than
expressing a state of being. What exactly does this mean? Let’s look at this
example:
Andre plays rugby.
In this sentence, the verb plays expresses an action that Andre does: Andre
physically plays the sport of rugby. That is why plays is an action verb.
The examples of action verb word are (Act, Agree, Arrive, Ask, Bake, Bring,
Build, Buy, Call, Climb)
EX:
o He plays badminton every Sunday morning.
o They are playing badminton at the stadium.
o Sunflowers grow fast.
o The athlete jumps when his coach blows the whistle
o The athlete is jumping on the trampoline
- Anthony is throwing the football.
- She accepted the job offer
